  4. I remember this show (but not this episode). So interesting to see the prominence of big tobacco back then.

    1. It really is amazing how they managed to infiltrate and take over every aspect of our lives.

  5. I had never heard of this show, but I enjoyed watching Danny Thomas. I was most surprised by the ads.

  6. Oh, the days when there were cigarette ads on TV! Looong ago!
    Even for kids (chocolate-ciggies).

Wow. Do I feel old. DM (German Mark) 2.20 was a package. I was maybe 5 and my Mom sent me to get her that - and it was sold to me. These days you need proof you´re 18 plus!
Not the point, but you threw me down memory lane with this.
No kidding: I have one package and one cigarette here! "KIM", it was called. Think if you lighted it, it would burn down so fast, do it outside and watch your fingers!

  7. Oh my the tobacco commercials & the fur! But despite those health risks, the story was wholesome & fun. I wonder what the cancel culture of today would make of the story?

    1. I'm more liberal than most and enjoyed the story. I don't think it'd be hard to adapt it for today.

  9. Not one of my favorite shows but I watched it now and then because my folks watched it sometimes. I vaguely remembered I didn't like some of the people on the show...so I watched this. Yup--didn't care for Rusty's attitude or Danny's insult humor. (Later loved his daughter, Marlo, though.) The humor was probably too adult for me at he time (born in '51)...but I didn't care for most of it now when I do understand it. But then I have never liked the mean Don Rickles form of humor--people talking that way to each other.

Funny how the cigarette commercials were prevalent back then. I remember watching those, too.
