      Context is important. Today's variety Christmas shows are different but still have a lot in common with the old ones.

    I like these old time singers at Christmas. Some people might say the songs are bit sexist and outdated, but they speak of a time gone by and so you can't expect them to be like today. I don't remember this special. My parents didn't like Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra. Can you image that? Happy new month. Hope the second has been a good day for you Nita.

      Daddy liked Dean Martin, and we watched his tv show :) There's so much sexism today I have trouble condemning the 60s :(

    My folks watched every one of these and the Andy Williams Christmas specials...and all the rest of them--LOL! I enjoyed them, too. :)
