The Quiet Duel is a 1949 Akira Kurosawa film starring Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura. You won't go wrong watching any film with any of these three names associated with it.
I'm a big fan of Kurosawa. His autobiography is very fascinating, as are many films made throughout his long life. The University of Michigan (in our town) used to have a Japanese film festival twice a year, and we learned a great deal about the Japanese film industry including many great directors, authors, animators, and actors.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
