from the back of the book:
Much like its muddy riverbanks, the mid-South is flooded with tales of shadowy spirits lurking among us. Beyond the rhythm of the blues and tapping of blue suede shoes is a history steeped in horror. From the restless souls of Elmwood Cemetery to the voodoo vices of Beale Street, phantom hymns of the Orpheum Theatre and Civil War soldiers still looking for a fight, peer beyond the shadows of the city’s most historic sites. Author and lifelong resident Laura Cunningham expertly blends fright with history and presents the ghostly legends from Beale to Bartlett, Germantown to Collierville, in this one-of-a-kind volume no resident or visitor should be without.
...haunted you say?
ReplyDeleteWe have ghosts ;) or so the stories say. It makes for a fun outing and interesting reading, but I'm not a believer.
DeleteVisiting the haunted sites would be a fun trip
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I did a ghost tour in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and it was great fun. There are several here in town, but I've not done one of those.
DeleteThis looks like it would be great fun!
ReplyDeleteThe ghost stories are fun to me even though I'm a skeptic.
DeleteI love the idea. When I lived in MO, there was a site not far from where I lived that was supposed to be haunted. It was even on one of those TV ghost story shows that were popular in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me there's more of this kind of thing as time goes on. Memphis didn't used to have ghost tours, but it's a fun way to tell stories about some of our history.
DeleteThis sounds good! Have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteHot and sunny=a good week :)
DeleteI stayed in a haunted B&B once. My husband and I were the only guests one night, and the owners didn't live in. We both swore we heard footsteps about 4 AM. Some people say it was probably just a recording, but for my husband to admit hearing them, that is something. He is far more a skeptic than me. Happy Monday.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I stayed in a haunted hotel once, and we actually did hear things when no one was there. So cool!
