Measure for Measure (1979)

Measure for Measure is the 1979 BBC adaptation of the Shakespeare play. I watched it on Amazon Prime. The play can be read here and here and listened to here.

Here's one scene:

There's information and background on the play here. There's a Wikipedia entry on this play that has background and historical information and a plot description.

    1. There's no room for mercy in a measure for measure justice system.

  2. Thanks for the plot synopsis. I have never read a Shakespeare play, so learning about this one was informative. Sadly, I wasn't fond of the truth it was attempting to tell or reveal, although I understand it has a happier ending than most.

    1. It always helps me with Shakespeare if I already know the plot. I like the focus here on how power corrupts. Suitable for these days as we look at our Senate, I think.

  4. That sounds like a good version to watch. I realize that I have forgotten the plot and characters, which I once knew.

    1. It was new to me, but I've seen some others of the BBC series. I wanted the whole series for the longest time, but they were always sooo expensive.
