Being "good" at it is not the goal, though. Being present in the pose as you can be, being aware of your body... It's not about being good at the pose. Adapting the pose for your own body so that it becomes accessible to _you_ no matter your physical limitations is more the goal than imitating any other practitioner. If I'd waited to be at all good at it I'd never've started.
I did yoga with the wii fit for a while and moved on to a biggest loser yoga video. I'm not very flexible but after doing a video for a while I can ace corpse pose.
If you can't stand, you can do these other 2 seated. If you can't raise your hands all the way for that 2nd one, you can raise them just as much as you can and be find.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
Easy Yoga - thanks for that reminder that we don't all have to be super bendy to enjoy. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can even do Yoga in a chair.
DeleteHappy Yoga day to you also. Namaste.

DeleteI tried yoga, but meh. I've been doing T'ai Chi and QiGong related energy work
ReplyDeleteI began Yoga in high school and have always loved it. I like Tai Chi and QiGong, too.
Delete...there a day for everything!
ReplyDeleteRight?!
DeleteHappy International Yoga Day. Sadly, some of us are just not good at it and find it very frustrating. Glad you enjoy it, though.

DeleteYoga is one of those things I keep saying, "I should do that."
ReplyDeleteYou could pick one pose and do it every day for a while to see if it suits you. I love how calming it is, how centering.

ReplyDeleteFlexibility isn't required for many poses.
DeleteI think I could manage the corpse pose. Otherwise... I'm not as bendable as I wish.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to be bendy for any of these poses.
DeleteNever tried yoga. I'd have to stick with the chair exercises at this point in my life--LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteYoga can be done seated. It's amazing how adaptable it is.
DeleteI think the corpse pose is the only one I could do! Valerie
