from the back of the book:
Orphans born in the depths of space, they were engineered to range the galaxy in search of fortune. Misfits and outlaws, they defied the huge interstllar cartels that ruled space, always one jump ahead of the authorities. Ubu Roy was the strong young bossrider of the starship Runaway, who held all of history in his remarkable memory. Beautiful Maria was an ace star shooter and cybernetic witch, who could bend spacetime to find the perfect singularity. The author keeps a blog at his website.
Not a big sci fi reader, but it is fun to read a genre you like, isn't it? Especially if the book is good. Happy rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's fun to find these older ones I never read.
DeleteThat sounds interesting especially being able to bend spactime.
ReplyDeleteI'm still not understanding how they did that, but genetic manipulation will never get to that point ;)
Delete...I didn't know that angles were into science fiction.
ReplyDeleteWonders never cease ;)
DeleteThe character's name, Ubu Roy, is interesting, as Ubu Roi is the name of a play Alfred Jarry, written in 1896. It was very controversial and avant garde for its time. Is there a connection?

The character chose his own name, not liking the "Xavier" he was given, and he chose it based on a "hype" or fiction film he saw. Maybe it was an adaptation of the play you cite. Cool!
DeleteThis sounds rather scary, but good. Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh, it's not scary at all.
