  1. That is a great way to start the morning and the week! Too bad I just didn't get paid either-smile; that would really start the week off with a bang.

    1. I favor a nontaxable universal income and taxing corporations and wealth beyond the dreams of avarice. But I'm a dreamer.

  3. Shows how old I am. I thought this was going to be a rendition of Sam Cooke's "Another Saturday Night and I ain't got nobody. I got some money 'cause I just got paid."

  7. I thought of the Sam Cooke song, too!
Been so many years since I heard a live band. Lived with a part-time country singer for seven years back in the day and spent a lot of time listening to live music in local bars in NE Minneapolis--LOL! :)

    1. I was never much of a concert-goer. The Sam Cooke is definitely what came to mind with this song title :)

    2. I only went to a few concerts when I was young. Saw Tommy James (Crimson and Clover). Alice Cooper (by accident--thought "she" was a folk singer), Jimi Hendirx, The Doors, and Steppenwolf. Most of my band experience was with bar bands. The guy I was living with had his own band and they played small events (like pig roasts) and in smaller bars (a whole lot of VFWs and American Legions). Nothing at all like concerts--LOL!

    3. Wow! You've been to more concerts than I have. When I used to go to bars they had DJs, no live music at all. Now there are bars/restaurants with live music here, and I think that'd be fun. It's all at night, though, and I don't get out at night any more. I'm ready for bed early lol

    4. LOL! I have no interest anymore. Been there. Done that. Don't drink--since about 1993, I think. The live music was so much fun, though...and loud! We even had live bands for our senior party in high school and there was a small club for kids in the late 60s called Hullabaloo in town that was non-alcoholic and had live bands every weekend. Maybe they were more prevalent in Minnesota? I even saw The Fifth Dimension at one of the first big everything-store openings (like a Walmart or Target today but I can't remember the name of it now) before they were well known! Imagine them standing along a wall playing near the check out aisles! And I was working at Dayton's downtown when the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played for the customers on top of a raised platform. Didn't know who they were yet, either. I brought them pop and water because they were playing near my department (men's underwear, socks, ties, and wallets--LOL!). Nice memories. :)

    5. Maybe it was a more common thing up in Minnesota. We had a teen spot in a strip mall called Hullabaloo (like the TV show) when I was in high school that was no alcohol, black lights, and live bands on the weekends. We had a live band for our senior party.

I saw The Fifth Dimension at a store opening! Didn't know who they were but can you imagine seeing a band lined up against the wall near the checkout aisles just standing on the floor and playing and singing their hearts out? The little girl was so smiley and friendly. Was one of the first big stores to open--like a Walmart or a Target with food and clothing and everything, but so long ago I can't remember the name of it.

I was working at Dayton's downtown Minneapolis (in the men's underwear, socks, and wallet department--lol!) when they had the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band playing up high on a flooring they built where it was usually a clerk hub with registers. I didn't know who they were, either, but I got them water and pop to drink on their breaks. Cute guys! Was in 69 or 70, I think.

Every wedding I went to had a band. Live music was a real draw. And then I spent seven years on the periphery of Roger's country band. Was at band practices and various bars and events. I wrote down the words to songs for him, helped set up and tear down equipment. Sang on stage a few times (3rd or 4th set so people were a little lubricated because I was quite shy about it)...Patsy Cline's Crazy, I Fall To Pieces, and Grandpa by the Judds. That was all I knew by heart. I don't remember all the words anymore. That was in the late 80s--LOL!

Wow! What a tangent. Another lifetime. :)

    6. You've seen some great bands! I didn't go out at all in high school, and I hadn't heard of bands at store openings. We did have dances with live music in college, and I thought that was great. I was grown before I went to a wedding with music, much less live music. I've been to some live music events here in Memphis but only daytime events, usually music festivals, but I don't much like crowds lol, so there's that. Sometimes parks here will have music events with bands during the day, but they're local acts. Still fun, though, and I do enjoy the music when I go. My daughter and son-in-law have moved to the twin cities area, and things are a lot different there than here. It's been hotter there than here lately! She's loving it up there.
