by Johnny Cash
There's a Memphis mention:
I went up to Memphis
And I met Delia there
Found her in her parlor
And I tied her to her chair
Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone
various and assorted miscellany
I went up to Memphis
And I met Delia there
Found her in her parlor
And I tied her to her chair
Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone
...a sad one!
ReplyDeleteThose old tragic tales
DeleteI'd never heard this song before. How nice you can tie it to Memphis, too. Rather a gruesome song, though. Two shots and now he's haunted by her memory.
ReplyDeleteIt was new to me. I saw it on Tom's blog and heard the Memphis reference :)
DeleteThere's a happy, little tune. 😺
ReplyDeletea real toe-tapper lol
DeleteAnother good song by the man who can't (or couldn't) do bad songs.
ReplyDeleteI came to him late, not being a country music fan.
DeleteSuch a great link to Memphis although I haven't heard this one before! Love a bit of Johnny Cash, such a great voice 😁. Happy weekend! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteBased on a true story, or at least that's what I hear. Memphis has more mentions in song than any other city.
DeleteJohnny Cash was a great singer. Valerie
ReplyDeleteHe was indeed.
DeleteNever heard this one. Based on a true story? Well, I had to google that and they were teenagers--how sad. Seems people love to make songs about tragedies. Well, we do find them fascinating. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf you like gorgeous photography and music I'd recommend Tom's blog: http://backroadstraveller.blogspot.com/ The music is either new to me or oldies that bring back fond memories :) That's where I heard Delia's Gone for the first time.
