Spaghetti-Western.net says,
A very interesting film. Very well made and strongly acted. One of the many curiosities include its locale. Unlike many (almost all) spaghetti westerns, this film is not set in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, or Mexico. It was filmed and set in Andalucia, Spain. This fact alone brings up controversy. Is it a western if it is set in a foreign land? Yes. The theme, characters, and locations suggest that it is a western. It involves smuggling, bandits, and a stagecoach robbery. The robbery scene is particularly well filmed.DVD Talk says it "shatters the traditional Spaghetti western template" and that it "ultimately owes more to Bizet than Leone".
...
The film is a very deep and intense character study and thus, focuses more on the characters than the action.
...
good acting, writing, and story
...Pride and Vengeance pretty much sums up #45!
ReplyDeleteBasic elements of story-telling. And politics ;)
DeleteGood morning, sounds like a good film
ReplyDeleteGood morning :) Yes, it was definitely different.
DeleteI like noir films and the reviews sound really good. I may try to watch this but not today.
ReplyDeleteIt's a unique take on Carmen. Interesting.
DeleteI’ll look into it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it :)
DeleteI liked Franco Nero as Lancelot in Camelot
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten he was in that!
DeleteI need a rainy day to check out some new things. One of these days I need to look into spaghetti westerns more. I've liked the few I've seen. Hope it was a good Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWe were supposed to get rain yesterday, but it passed right by us. Spaghetti westerns are readily available free, which makes them extra easy to check out :)
DeleteOh no, another western? Klaus Kinski is always good, but I won't watch it, thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's _called_ a spaghetti western, but it's not really a western in the sense you think of. It's Carmen. With horses.
DeleteGood morning. 🌞
ReplyDeleteGood morning :)
DeleteFabulous spaghetti western! Which reminds me that I was sad to hear that Ennio Morricone passed away earlier this month, such a fabulous composer and of course well known for composing music for spaghetti westerns 😁. Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteWe watched the Man with No Name trilogy in his memory that week. Such an amazing talent!
