King Solomon's Mines (1950)

King Solomon's Mines is a 1950 adventure film, one of several adaptations of H. Rider Haggard's novel by the same name. You can read the book online here. I enjoyed this movie, and the scenery and animals are wonderful.

trailer:

DVD Talk says,
the 1950 Hollywood adaptation jettisons just about everything from Haggard's book, keeping only the title, the character of Alan Quartermain, and a few bones from the skeleton of the book's plot. ... King Solomon's Mines is quite an interesting film, one that is half adventure story and half wildlife documentary.
Rotten Tomatoes has a critics score of 92%.

  5. I've also heard of this, but I think I'm confusing it with something that was filmed in this century.

How do you get a video to show on your blog that is NOT on YouTube? I can't figure it out.

    1. If it's a video I took I have to upload it to Youtube and share it from there. If it's a video at a site like the Internet Archive or Daily Motion I copy the embed code that's on the page. Where is the video you're having trouble with?

    2. I wanted to show the entire film "Olympus Has Fallen," but it was on a channel called Put Locker that was run by Disqus (or whatever it is called). I clicked on the movie icon in my post and a large square came up. It said to drag a video "here" or upload a video. I couldn't figure out how to upload it, so I just copied the address of the video. It works and opens if I highlight the address, but it's frustrating that I can't seem to figure out something so simple!! I never have been able to leave comments on Disqus, just like I could never leave comments on G+ because I wasn't a member.

    3. PutLocker doesn't seem to have an option to embed the video on your site. You can download it, but I never download videos; or there are 3rd party apps you can download like this: http://embedvideoonwebsite.github.io/how-to-embed-putlocker-video-in-website.html , but I don't know anything about them. I signed up for Disqus back in the day when some blogs required it for commenting, but I haven't used it in some time.

    4. THANK you. You made me feel so much better. I guess I'm not as dumb as that inability to download the film made me feel.

    5. I usually stick with Youtube or Daily Motion when I want to embed something here.

  6. I remember seeing this on TV when I was a kid and being fascinated by the natives and the jungle scenes. I wonder how it would hold up after all these decades? LOL!

    1. I was impressed by how well it has held up. Not nearly as bad imo as some much more recent movies
