Variety says,
“Endgame” is the ultimate fan-service follow-up, so densely packed with pay-offs to relationships established in the previous films that it all but demands that audiences put in the homework of watching (or rewatching) a dozen earlier movies to appreciate the sense of closure it offers the series’ most popular characters. The New York Times has a positive review. Rolling Stone gives it 4 out of 5 stars and calls it "truly epic and thunderously exciting". John Scalzi says, "moment to moment, the film is entertaining, and savvy enough as popular entertainment to give their characters, especially the ones whose actors are at the end of their contracts, moments you can cheer and cry for them. This is Disney, folks. They know popular entertainment."
Rotten Tomatoes has a critics consensus of 95%.
Mr Man is anxious to see. I've not seen any of the previous movies, well maybe a few scenes when Mr Man was watching. I've read that the end is quite satisfying to the fans.
ReplyDeleteI have seen them all but might well not have if I didn't have a fan for a husband lol This movie is just over 3 hours long. 3 hours!
DeleteWe're planning on going Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing what y'all think about it.
DeleteI haven't watched any of these. Glad you enjoyed it:)
ReplyDeleteMy husband's a superhero fan since childhood. He's in hog heaven with these characters being so popular :)
DeleteI enjoy time travel movies if they do them right. I haven't seen any of the movies in this series. I enjoy action movies, but I don't go to the theater much anymore, because tickets are so expensive.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of one that was done right ;) And I read a paranormal time travel romance once that killed any tolerance I had for time travel lol
DeleteYes, my senior matinee ticket was $8.50! Bummer :(
We have been nitpicking the time travel issues too, but agreed. It is a good enough story to forget about that and just enjoy the film. I think I need to see it again as I am learning some new connections from the kids at school. They seem to be experts on the minute details.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun getting into discussions about the details. We also have issues with how Thor was used. The issues are worth exploring :)
DeleteI have seen quite a few of the movies, but probably not enough to watch the final movie and get all the references. Not yet. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, it does build on the past movies, definitely.
DeleteI haven't seen any of the films, so I think I will give this one a miss, too! Valerie
ReplyDeleteThis would _not_ be a good place to start. The first Iron Man movie is where I might suggest starting if you wanted to dip your toe in these waters :)
DeleteMy husband would enjoy this one.
ReplyDeleteIf you're a fan you can't _not_ see this one. It's almost part 2 of the last Avengers movie.
DeleteSomehow, my post got lost in the internet ether. I just pointed out I'm not a fan of superheros, and have never seen any of these films.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and kids have always been my "in" to these movies. I get a kick out of them, but I'm not sure I'd have watched them but for them.
