Aquaman

The Husband is a big fan of these superhero movies, and we saw Aquaman in the theater. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, not much knowing what to expect. I ended up enjoying it but thinkingit not the best of these movies. In my opinion all of these movies could do with less posing. I mean Momoa is gorgeous, but still. My favorite parts f this film had to do with Aquaman's father, the lighthouse keeper, and that took up less time than any other element.

trailer:

Rolling Stone says the movie "almost gets by on razzle dazzle". Roger Ebert's site closes with this: "For all its wild spectacle and cartoon cleverness, this is a quietly subversive movie, and an evolutionary step forward for the genre."

  1. Himself is a Marvel fan, but this wasn't one of the movies he really wanted to see. Back in the comic day, Aquaman was kind of wussy. Not real popular. I liked Momoa from his portrayal of Khal Drogo in GOT, and the trailer looked so much better than the comic book. So I dragged Himself to the movie. I really enjoyed the origin story and Momoa is great eye candy.

  2. I like action movies, but I haven't seen any of the super hero movies. I also just noticed your Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary link, so I added that to my blog under Interesting Links. I took a peek, but right now, no elephants to be seen. That's great that they have a sanctuary for them. Did you hear about the poachers in Africa several weeks ago? They were going to kill a rhinoceros (for its horn), and an elephant stomped one of them to death, then the lions ate him. (This might make me sound like a bad person, but I thought it was poetic justice, and deserved. Rhinoceros and elephants are almost extinct because of these people killing them.)

    1. I saw that and agree with you. Poetic justice. By now they really should know better :(

The elephant sanctuary here would be better known, I think, if they allowed visitors to observe the elephants or their environment, but as I understand it the elephants are kept well protected. The live cams are as close as you can get.

  3. We go to these movies too and I agree exactly about this one. I think this guy does like to pose way too much. Way more than many of the other superhero films. I thought it was an ok film. Glad I saw it but nothing to rave about. Now the teenagers at school all loved it, so I guess maybe they are the audience the film was going for. Happy Sunday-or whatever is left of it. hugs-Erika

    1. Yes, I'm hardly the target audience for these films ;) and Groot is my favorite so there's that lol

  4. I think what usually makes these movies popular is all the special effects-this one sounded interesting-thanks for sharing

    1. Sometimes it can be hard to enjoy them if you haven't seen the others and aren't familiar with the story, but this one can be enjoyed solo I'd think. If you liked this kind of think. But in that case you'd have seen the others...

  7. I'll be seeing it when it becomes available on Netflix. I see the superhero movies because of Dagan and Leah. Some are better than others, I agree.

  8. Did I not leave a comment for this move? Or maybe I wrote it and forgot to his publish? Any, I totally agree with you about this film. Probably my least favorite superhero one. I am glad I saw it, it wasn't horrible, but you hit the nail on the head (as they say) when you talk about him posing. It was way way too much. Hope you are having a good weekend. Hugs-Erika

    1. I'm out of town and slow getting to the blog this week-end. Black Panther has been my least favorite of this series so far. Some of them are a bit slow and last too long for me.
