The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Netflix) is a 2018 historical romantic drama film directed by Mike Newell and based on the 2008 novel of the same name. I enjoyed the book and was happy to come across this. They did a nice job with the adaptation. It gets mostly positive reviews. This is a feel-good movie for when you're in the mood for that.

...neat name!
ReplyDeleteHow they came up with the name is part of the story lol
DeleteOMGoodness! This was lost somewhere on my watchlist for years, I think. I will try to watch it soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you would like it.
DeleteI remember reading the book of so long ago, but I haven't seen the film. I should watch it one afternoon when the hubby is at work because it wouldn't be his type of film for certain. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI watched it by myself, but I think my husband would've liked it. Happy endings are his happy place :)
DeleteI read the book, didn’t see the movie or even remember that there was one. I don’t think I liked the book enough to watch.
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It's enough like the book that I think you're right about that.
DeleteI dearly loved this novel. I thought the movie was good -- but they cut out one of the subplots/character's story I really liked, which made me sad. But still, I thought as adaptations go, good. (And if I hadn't finished the book about a week before I watched it, I might have forgotten that part and not noticed!)
ReplyDeleteIt's been many a long year since I read the book. Now I'm wondering what they left out...
DeleteOn the list just for the title alone - CJ
ReplyDeleteikr?! The backstory only takes a minute to tell but is fun.
DeleteThis is on my list to watch! I must get round to it!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I missed to completely when it was released, but I miss almost everything when it's released lol
