Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing is a 1993 adaptation of the Shakespeare play directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh. Michael Keaton, Robert Sean Leonard, Keanu Reeves, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, and Kate Beckinsale also star. I have the DVD, long languishing in my stack of to-be-watched films, and I'm glad I finally got around to it.

You can read a plot description of the play itself here at the Wikipedia entry, but it's not at all necessary for understanding and enjoyment.

trailer:

It's well-reviewed, though Keanu Reeves earned a nomination for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor. He is the weak link here, but I like him at the worst of times.

    1. I'll check it out. I'm getting a late start with the blogging community today, but I finally got enough blood drops on that damn insurance heath check so it can be sent off. Humph. I wish I could just give them access to my last test from the doctor, but noooo :(

    2. I looked for MAAN and it was no longer on Tubi, Pluto, and you had to pay to watch it on Prime 😿

  3. I need to check this out. It sounds like a great cast (well maybe not Keanu Reeves from that award), and you can't go wrong with some lighter hearted Shakespeare. Happy Saturday. Hugs-Erika

  4. I adored this beautiful version of Much Ado! So much fun! I also love Branagh's version of Hamlet. Keaunu Reeves may not have been successful in Much Ado, but I, too, like him...just because. :)

  7. I love this play and I really loved this interpretation. I think it might be my favorite of Branagh's Shakespeares. And what a cast!
