King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a 2017 epic fantasy directed by Guy Ritchie. Jude Law plays the bad guy. I watched it on HBO Max. We'd like to cancel that service, and yet we continue to yield to the temptation to watch yet another movie. And then another. I'll watch any King Arthur story, and this is one. There are better ones, but this'll do 'til another comes along.

trailer:

It was not well-reviewed, though there are some positive reviews out there.

Warning, political comment ahead:

"Lies can have terrible consequences." If you're getting your news and commentary from FOX, please stop. Actually if you're getting your news from any one source, please stop. Look for sources of actual factual reporting. If you like their commentary, all the better. Fact-check even your favorite and trusted sources. Everybody makes mistakes, after all. Do your best not to be part of the problem. As the saying goes, "A lie can travel around the world while the truth is still lacing up its boots," so it behooves us all to let the lie stop with us and not repeat it and spread it further.

The following video from Jim Acosta (CNN) calls out FOX for its lies:

I found that video on The Mary Sue blog, where they say, "Jim Acosta took on Fox News in a searing indictment of their relentless lies and bad faith messaging." The Mary Sue is a fun source of commentary, describing themselves as "the geek girl’s guide to the universe."

  1. ...Fox News, what a misnomer.

  2. O M G - how is it Fox News is allowed to be on the air. Telling people to stop people wearing a mask outside & tell them to take it off is only going to lead to violence. When will this darkness of lies being news ever be over, from politicians to Hollywood wanna be royals?

  3. I like your mug a lot. You have a nice collection. And the daughter added me to her HBO feed (as she is the only one on it and you can have 5 people connected). Of course she said she might cancel anytime. Smile. I think I shall check this film out. I agree with you about Fox News. Tom's called it by what it is, a misnomer. Using one news station is like being in the old soviet union where there was only the state run news. Not that Fox is state run, but it is full of propaganda just like old state run news was reported to be. Have a great T day.

  5. Once you start thinking about all the lies and purposely misleading "news" in our country, there's nowhere to stop! I have a feeling that those of us who commented during the last election already lost the readers who disagreed with us, and that's one of the tragedies that the divisive and dysfunctional behavior of the previous president accomplished. I hope your "political comment" influenced the people you were trying to reach, but it's hard to penetrate their tinfoil hats.

    1. I value the ones who disagree with me, but they tend to be delicate flowers. It's a shame so few of them are willing to engage in conversation. Some few will, but only a very few. And by that I mean one lol. Seriously one. That's the number of people who see my posts anyway and who disagree with me who are willing to discuss these issues. It's a shame that we can't talk with each other. It's an outright tragedy when people quit even reading a blog at all if that blogger expresses an opposing political opinion.

  7. That mug is wonderful. It reminds me of spring. I'll join you for coffee any time, dear.

Didn't you know that Trump is still the President, that Biden is dead, and they have hired an impersonator? If you don't believe me, please turn on some of the conspiracy theory channels or check out some web sites that tell you Trump is still king of the hill. Now pass me your copy of Cat in the Hat so I can burn it!

  8. It's the same here, so many lies being spread, and so many who believe all the conspiracy theories and other lies. That sounds like a good film. Happy T Day, Valerie

  9. Ooh, I'll have to see if that King Arthur is available still. I hasn't seen Jim Acosta's commentary. Bravo. Too bad tin hats cover ears.

  10. I'd watch the King Arthur movie. Nice big mug to hold extra coffee:) I tend to shun the news channels because it seems each one has their own bias and "agenda" if you will. Well said in your reply to Mae! Happy T day!

  15. I have seen that version, hubby is a King Arthur fan so looks out for anything that comes up!! I sometimes get headlines on my phone that look as though it's news but can turn out to be months, even years old - very misleading if you don't read the date! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

  16. A lying president and lying members of congress and lying media--terrifying. It creates people who are polar opposites and that makes conversation extremely difficult.
Haven't seen this one. Looks entertaining. :)

  17. Just watched the trailer. Hubby would probably like that. For me it might just be a tad too violent. But I liked the music. I know the music played in the trailer, but can't quite come up with a name of a band.
I love your mug. It's definitely a coffee mug.
I can't comment on Fox as we don't have TV or a streaming device.
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca
