I LOVED this. It was hard for me to think of Lansbury as anything other than a sweet wonderful lady we all loved in Murder She Wrote, so this was a very different take on her. I agree that the cast is to die for. Great dialogue, too. I wonder how many other men she would have gotten rid of given the chance. I love how the story was told in flashbacks, too.
I remember seeing this when I was young--but not the Saturday matinee movies on TV. This had to have been on the after 10pm movies not for kids. I'd stay up, of course, and watch the murder mysteries and love stories. I had to watch it again with that cast. Not used to seeing Angela as the villianess! She was good at it. :)
You should see more of her early work. She was in Gaslight and often played villainous bitches lol She played Elvis' overbearing mother in Blue Hawaii, and she was less than 10 years older than him at the time. I think she can do _anything_!
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
...really?
ReplyDeleteThe cast is to die for ;)
DeleteI do remember this movie. With this cast and genera how can you go wrong? Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThat cast!
DeleteRaymond Burr and Angela Lansbury are worth it, even though the title is a bit of a turn-off.
ReplyDeleteIt's got that tragic noir vibe.
DeleteThose a great actors. Sounds like it is worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I found it.
DeleteThere's a cast. Murder She Wrote and Perry Mason!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Murder She Wrote lol

ReplyDeleteI think the first thing I saw her in was The Manchurian Candidate, so I've never thought of her as "a sweet wonderful lady" lol!
