Dune (1984)

Dune is a 1984 David Lynch adaptation of the Frank Herbert science fiction novel. Linda Hunt, Jose Ferrar, Patrick Stewart, Sting, Dean Stockwell, and Max von Sydow are in this one. I watched it on HBO MAX, having seen it before years ago. This is a deeply flawed adaptation, and I can't recommend it, but I watched it with a family member who liked the book but hadn't seen this film.

  1. I've never read Dune, but I think Mr Man has. I know he hasn't seen this adaptation of it & you would think with so many "stars" it would have had better reviews.

    1. The casting is "off" imo, and it just has so many other problems.

  4. I've seen this years back, but can't say I really liked it. I do want to read the book at some point though. It must be better than the film?

  7. I actually saw this years ago on TV. For some reason, I wasn't that impressed, which says a lot, since I love SciFi.

  9. I tried to like this when I saw it ages ago on a date. It's never good to go to a date on a bad movie. It's a bad omen for the future!

  10. The books were really good but this movie wasn't, as I recall. That's all I remember about it really--not good. I remember more of the books. ;)

    1. I read several of the books but don't remember how many. I've kept the first one and have re-read it a few times. I wish they'd make a worthy adaptation :(
