The Pot
The Pot is a 1925 Japanese short animated film. It combines two stories into one seventeen-minute movie: 1) The Fisherman and the Jinni from One Thousand and One Nights, and 2) the story of the fox and the lion from Machiavelli's The Prince. You can watch it online here.

Cute story. I love the walking pot.
ReplyDeleteThe old Japanese shorts are so creative!
DeleteI thought genies were supposed to be less ugly. A bit confusing to me, but I think I misssed a few words along the way.
ReplyDeleteThe jinn/djin/genie creatures are pictured in a variety of ways depending on time and culture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jinn I love the speech balloons in Japanese and wonder why our silent films never used them.
Delete...the calligraphy is something that I see here.
ReplyDeleteI think the writing would be quite difficult to learn.
