Julius Caesar is a 1994 part of the Shakespeare: The Animated Tales series. At just 25 minutes, it leaves out a lot, but what's there maintains the play's language and order. It'd be a good first introduction, I think.
I've been trying to think which one I'd recommend to someone who wasn't into Shakespeare, and this might be just the one. Any of the ones where the plot is generally known and some of the phrases would be recognized :)
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
I have never seen these before. Some great actors there, Joss Ackland, Jim Carter... :-D
ReplyDeleteThat series was a great idea!
DeleteGood morning, nice selection-Happy Sunday hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday! Sunshine and a high in the 60s. It's spring here lol
DeleteWhat a find! Thank you, I really enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteThere's a whole series from the 90s. It aired here on HBO, which I don't think we ever had so I'm just now coming across them.
DeleteI wonder if they had school kids in mind when they made this one. Happy Groundhog day.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! It was the first Shakespeare for children (at least I think it was).
Delete...I just read an article 'Shakespeare in Pidgin,' interesting!
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered what Shakespeare would be like in another language.
DeleteFabulous, a great way to introduce kids to Shakespeare too 😀. Happy weekend! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. You get the language and the basic plot. A bit like Charles and Mary Lamb's Tales from Shakespeare does in book form.
DeleteSounds great for kids. Valerie
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd had it when my kids were little.
DeleteI wish I had had it when I was teaching!
DeleteMaybe I should watch this and learn a bit about Shakespeare. Never been able to get into his work.
