Hard Boiled

Hard Boiled is a 1992 Hong Kong action film directed by John Woo and starring Chow Yun-fat. Many guns, many bullets, many explosions, many deaths as is typical of modern action movies. This one has the police up against rival gangs.

The opening scene shows a man called Tequila fixing a drink with Tequila:

I always have coffee in the mornings, and that's what I'm having now. I may have tequila the next time I have Mexican food. I've never made a Slammer. Looks messy. I'm bringing my drink to the T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering.

Empire Online describes it as
an explosively visceral, operatic tour de force of breath-takingly choreographed violence and blistering ballistic pyrotechnics that begins over-the-top with a tea-house shoot-out that leaves at least 30 people dead, and then escalates into a succession of even more outrageous action set pieces.
Slant Magazine gives it 4 out of 4 stars and says it "remains one of [the director's] finer moments". Criterion says, "Violence as poetry, rendered by a master—brilliant and passionate". Rotten Tomatoes has a critics score of 94%.

  1. I don't care for tequila, and wouldn't want to clean up that mess to make the drink. I suppose Tequila Stirrer or Tequila Whisk Gently doesn't sound as macho as a Tequila Slammer. Happy T Day

  2. Tequila is my go to drink, I like it and I also never get sick from it-I usually make myself a mini margarita in a very small glass when I have a taste for it. a splash of orange liquer, a splash of tequilla, a bit of agave, a splash of lime juice-and stir it up add ice simple haha
My husband would love this movie.

    1. We only get whatever tv comes over the airwaves, so it's PBS for us. Then when there's breaking news or fuller coverage I get links from FB, phone notifications, Twitter, and texts from my younger son. I'm a politics junkie lol

  6. I've seen tequila in Mexico with the real worm in it. I'll pass, thank you. Thanks for sharing this film wit us for T this Tuesday. Hard boiled reminds me of needing water to boil eggs. Sorry. I'm trying to get my mind off the worm (grin).

    1. I've never seen it that way. The Jose Cuervo Silver I use has no worms ;) But I agree, I always think eggs when I hear "hard boiled" lol

  7. I remember having tequila slammers at a Mexican restaurant whilst on holiday/vacation with my hubby, just used our hand to cover the glass no napkin - we also didn't make that much mess ...lol 😀. Thanks for the happy memories and wishing you a very happy T Tuesday! Hugs, Jo x

  11. I’ve had a bottle of Tequila in the cupboard for years as our son used to drink it I think with orange juice! I prefer a G&T and now I’ve been introduced to the rhubarb variety too.
Thanks for your earlier visit, and for persevering to get there, not sure what I did, perhaps a senior moment,
    Jan x

  12. I'm not a big fan of movies full of bullets, explosions, and deaths.

The movie "I Kill Giants" was okay / good, but I thought the plot would be different than it turned out to be, so it was disappointing in that sense.

    Happy T-Day!

  13. That tequila slammer drink looks a little messy to make. It splashes out the top and with my luck would break the glass. Smile. Hope it was a super T day. hugs-Erika

  15. I'm trying a different way of commenting.......let's see if it works LOL!
I've never had a Slammer, usually take my tequila in a shot.......................and not very often. I have full bottles of tequila, brought to me by some of our help, back when we had a concrete pipe business. It should be well aged by now!!!
Let me know if this comment shows up this week.
    Belated T-day wishes.

I've never had a tequila shot. I usually put it in OJ or make a Paloma with grapefruit soda.
