Jan Svankmajer’s stop-motion work uses familiar, unremarkable objects in a way which is deeply disturbing. The first film of his that I saw was Alice, and I was extremely unsettled by the image of an animated rabbit which had real fur and real eyes. I really liked it. The first part reminded me of evolution. I may be a bit strange myself, but I was quite impressed with this one! I'm so glad you shared it.

DeleteVery weird! Makes me wonder where his mind goes--LOL! Seems to have quite violent thoughts.
ReplyDeleteChange can be very violent. The destruction of the old and the rising of the new. I think "weird" is the perfect way to describe his vision!
