Fictitious Feasts
Fictitious Feasts is an article about the photographer Charles Roux' recreations of meals from books. For example, the photo at the top of the post is his vision of the dining room table from We Have Always Lived in The Castle by Shirley Jackson. I read the Jackson book a couple of years ago, and it has stuck with me. I think it makes a good read for October.
I'm not much a fan of feasts the way most people define the term, so this was my "feast" one night:
There was black coffee in that cup and a horror movie ready for me to watch while I sup. I'm easy to please. Now that October is over I'll be watching far fewer horror movies. I'm ready for a change.
Please join the T Tuesday gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.

ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! Happy T-Day !
ReplyDeleteNow that the horror movies have moved on it is time for all the Christmas movies to start playing.....my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI would take your feast, over the one at the castle any day.
Happy T-day
I am more of a "grazing" gal than a huge sit down feast.
ReplyDeleteYours looks inviting
Happy T Day
Oh my, I just love you table setting with that lovely basket of gords and bright orange pumpkin, your little bird is adorable with it's hat and scarf, those wonderful autumnal leaf placemats and your mug is perfect too! Everything really made me smile, thank you! Wishing you a Happy T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeletelovely table scenes-both! I also enjoy watching some horror flicks around Halloween but not so much after that. Now I'm on to the Hallmark Christmas movies:)
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
I love the idea of a fictitious feast. It's a lovely photo even though I did not read the book you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteA piece of toast and butter can be a feast if that is what you fancy. Why not.
Thanks for your kind comments.
Happy T-Day and also a good week ahead.
Hugs,
Lisca
Toast and butter can be a welcome feast and your looked inviting. I'm not a great fan of formalities at meal times.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day

I would have been here sooner, but Sally called and asked me to go to the doctor with her in case she couldn't drive home after her procedure. Then it was off to vote early and shop for Sally's medical supplies, then off to buy reduced Halloween candy.
ReplyDeleteI followed the links to the book and saw the entire collection to date. I loved "Love in the time of cholera" and of course, "Alice in Wonderland."
I am SO ready for Christmas to be over and we haven't even had Thanksgiving. All I see are Christmas happenings everywhere. I am so glad you ended the month with this wonderful "feast" at your own table. It is well done and fun to see as you wait to look at another horror movie.
Thanks for sharing the Fictional Feasts entry and your own feast with us for T this Tuesday. Again, sorry I'm late visiting.
I'm ignoring Christmas lol, turning the other way when I see displays. I do understand the need for artists and crafts-people to go ahead and get started, so I'm forgiving of the displays in craft and fabric and art stores. I'm focusing on Autumn until after Thanksgiving :)
DeleteThat's a cool idea. Dinner to match the book. Someone is clever. Your dinner looks just perfect for me. Nights I am alone or with my daughter I have similar meals. Hope you enjoyed all the horror films. Do you have a theme for November? Hugs-Erika (Oh yes, happy T day.)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to find movies that take place in the fall but that don't focus on coming-of-age or back-to-school themes. A niche theme lol, and I doubt I'll find many.
DeleteI love your real feast! Not watching any horror movies but we did go to see Dr Strange yesterday at the cinema - which Is why I am a day late wishing you Happy T day -apologies! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYour real feast is super cool!I don't like horror films anymore. I used to but nowadays I think they bring such a bad energy so I ignore them.! Belated Happy T day!
