Go Vote!

I'm a politics addict, especially during presidential election years. This time, I was a strong member of camp #FeelTheBern throughout the primaries and followed Sanders into the Clinton campaign so that now #ImWithHer. I watched all the debates and watch every live appearance of a candidate I can find. I listen to pundits from both sides, and I fact-check everything I come across. I have friends and relatives from both sides, and most of them are sick of it all and ready to see the end of it. I can't turn away. I'll continue to pay attention to political coverage and discuss it with whoever's willing. Discussion doesn't need to be putting forth arguments to convince but can be honest efforts to understand. I truly believe that. If you've managed to read through that paragraph, maybe you like discussing politics as much as I do.

On the other hand, maybe you're just being polite.

In either case, I offer you Peter Capaldi speaking on coffee as a non-political treat:

Small pleasures, that's the spirit! Now, if you haven't already, GO VOTE! And then join in the festivities at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's T Tuesday gathering.

  3. I voted early. In 2008 I was like you are today. I was so wrapped up in the process and the candidate, I got all excited, watched everything I could, and voted with enthusiasm. This year I voted my conscience and my party. Since I didn't care for either of the two "main" party candidates, and I knew my vote wouldn't count for anything other than my party, I voted for Johnson. I would gladly conduct a civil discussion, a hallmark of my beliefs, with you anytime.

LOVED the coffee quote. It's a great non-political statement, too! Thanks for sharing it with us for T this Tuesday.

  6. Yes, voting is extremely important. But with that said, I am one of those who is sick of the way this election has been going with all the nasty barbs and commercials, etc. so I will only look for the news once all is said and done. Happy T day!

  7. Yup I am voting shortly. This election campaigning has been so brutal and nasty. I can't believe that people can actually tolerate all the trash talking. I'm with you all the way and wish it was a Bernie ticket, but I am afraid that any independent vote will be one more vote Trump gets over Hilary. I know I am being rather weird in that thought, but it has happened in Maine twice for their governor. But lets hope the voting process goes off without any hitches.Happy election day and T day. Hugs-Erika

  8. I'll be going out to vote later when the husband gets home form work. He goes in too early to vote before work and sometimes parking is an issue so we go together. I truly Bernie had made into the election!!!!! I would feel good about my vote then . As it is I just feel good that I will be canceling out the husband vote because we are almost always on apposing sides :)

  10. I have been fascinated by all the goings on over the election! We got in a discussion with someone from Oregon last year who was convinced that Trump was being encouraged to stand in order to make everyone else look better! He didn't expect him to get much further! Now I suppose it's wait and see! Love the Peter Capaldi quote! Hugs, Chrisx

  12. I am watching Trump's acceptance speech as I type this. I have no idea why or how this happened, but it did.

Although I am a Libertarian, I can't understand how a man can build a wall (like the Berlin Wall) and force the military to round up all "illegals" and take them back to Mexico.

I can't imagine why a person would not be pro-choice, yet be pro-2nd amendment. Don't they understand that both are choices that should not be denied anyone?

I could go on, and worry about what our Supreme court will look like in the next 20-30 years if the balance of power is shifted to the religious right.

OFF MY SOAPBOX, now. Hope you are not as worried as I am.

  13. If any of you would like to "friend" me on Facebook to engage in occasional political (or other) discussion, please feel free to email me (link is in my blog profile) and we'll work it out. I'm wearing black today and staying at home and have hidden all my gloating Trump-supporting friends for the time being. It is a stunning development. It'll be fascinating to see how this works out, I'm sure, but I'm still in shock.

  14. Ha Ha! love the Capaldi quote!! maybe we should have gotten Dr. Who to run for president!? oh, wait. guess he doesn't have a U.S. birth certificate. lol...anyway. Just hoping and praying that our system of Checks and Balances will save the country from the worst of bad ideas!
