trailer:
The Hollywood Reporter says,
Loaded with atmosphere, this fragmented chiller is set far out on the American frontier, where a lonely wife — played by an intense Caitlin Gerard — starts seeing and hearing things... Well-shot and edited, with a script that keeps you guessing for a certain stretch of time...Roger Ebert's site opens a positive review with this:
"The Wind," an impressive horror/western hybrid, is the kind of artful genre movie that some filmgoers think simply doesn't get made anymore. It's a modestly-scaled character study about Lizzy (Caitlin Gerard), a resourceful, alienated frontierswoman who — living in a desolate cabin in the middle of an undisclosed part of 19th century America — slowly loses her grip on reality.
this looks good!
ReplyDeleteYes. It's interesting to see how the horror westerns manage the balance, and this one focuses on the women and how they cope (or don't).
Delete...this isn't well known to me.
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten how I came across it.
DeleteAnother western I think I'll pass on, thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou can't watch 'em all.
DeleteI couldn't wait for this movie to come out. I saw the trailer in 2018. I now own it. I wanted it not only for the fantastic story but for the actress Julia Goldani Telles who plays Emma Harper.
ReplyDeleteIt's a riveting look at what that kind of remoteness and loneliness can do to a person.
DeleteI think I'll give this one a pass!
ReplyDeleteIt ain't for everybody.
DeleteThanksm but I'll give this one a pass! Have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeletePlenty of other movies out there, after all :)
DeleteI'd never heard of a horror western until I visited your blog, it's wonderful there are so many different genres to chose from. I love westerns but not horror films so I'll pass (smile!), Happy wishes! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeletep.s. sorry I haven't been around, my tablet has given up the ghost and it looks like I'll have to get a new one (eek!) so I've resorted to using my laptop for now which isn't as convenient.
My choices are laptop and phone, and of those two the laptop is by far more convenient for me for blogging purposes. Of course it took me forever to get used to FB on my phone lol
DeleteSo _many_ genres and sub-genres to pick from. It's not just Gunsmoke and Bonanza for westerns.
