trailer:
Roger Ebert gives it 3 stars and begins the positive review with this: ""La Cienaga" is a dank, humid meditation on rotting families. By its end we are glad to see the last of most of its characters, but we will not quickly forget them." Rotten Tomatoes has a critic consensus score of 88%.
Not for me, I had enough with my family! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteNot all families are the happy, happy kind.
Delete...a dank, humid meditation on rotting families, now that right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteThis is some swamp.
DeletePass
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely memorable.
DeleteWhat country made this film? And the swamp looks like someone's nice backyard. But a nice backyard could still symbolically be a swamp. Happy Saturday Nita.
ReplyDeleteInternationally co-produced: Argentina/Spain/France. A lot of talent went into this.
DeleteI like Ebert's review. I didn't realize la cienaga ment the swamp. I wonder if La Cienaga Blvd. used to be swampland?
ReplyDeleteI was curious so googled it. from Wikipedia: "It was named for Rancho Las Cienegas, literally "The Ranch Of The Swamps," an area of marshland south of Rancho La Brea."

My family was kind and caring, and I don't think this film is for me. I'm into light and bright right now.
ReplyDeleteThe characters are memorable. Most of the families I see in film are nothing like mine was.
DeleteSounds very memorable, families are all different ...lol 😉. Happy weekend! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteAren't they! So many ways to deal with family life.
DeleteKinda strange for sure!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was unexpected, but I'm glad I've seen it.
DeleteSounds a bit too down for me at the moment. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, this is not a cheering film.
