Robin Hood is a 2018 film, yet another adaptation of the Robin Hood legend. We have the DVD, but it looks like it's available on Peacock with a free account. I like seeing the various films based on this story, but if you're just going to watch one skip this and go with the 1938 version.
trailer:
Variety has a positive review, calling it "a diverting live-wire lark". Roger Ebert's site has a negative review. Rotten Tomatoes has an audience score of 40%.

Delete...the legend of Robin Hood lives on and on!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteI haven't seen this one, but 40% is a low score. Too bad. In this day and age with CGI it could be a really good film. But I can't judge, not having seen it. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteIt was worth seeing just to see a modern adaptation. I wish it'd been better.
DeleteFor my money, you can't beat Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. Accept no substitutes! (Well, maybe Mel Brooks!)
ReplyDeleteI like a variety, but it'd be nice if they'd do a better job ;)
DeleteThe old film is much better! Valerie
ReplyDeleteTruth!
DeleteGreat post

DeleteI love the Robin Hood stories, but I don't remember this one coming out
ReplyDeleteYou didn't miss anything ;)
DeleteOf the 70 or so Robin Hood movies and TV treatments, I think the one I remember best is the TV series with Richard Greene. I've seen a couple of the movies too. And I once visited some part of the Forest of Arden near Warwick.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
There are so many adaptations of this story. It's a shame the best ones are the older ones.
DeleteI think the older film would be my preferred choice :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Mine, too.
DeleteThis doesn't sound like something I would want to waste my time watching. At least, not from the trailer.
ReplyDeleteIt was a disappointment.
DeleteCan't go wrong with Errol Flynn and Korngold's soundtrack blends perfectly with the story.
ReplyDeleteYes! That one is what all newer ones should at least _try_ to be better than. Or at least as good as.
DeleteA timeless story and so enjoyable too 😁. Not seen this one but I've loved watching all the Robin Hood films so far - such fun! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see how the story gets re-interpreted.
DeleteI don't think I care to see Robin Hood as an action figure stealing from a casino--LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL!
