Robin Hood (2018)

Robin Hood is a 2018 film, yet another adaptation of the Robin Hood legend. We have the DVD, but it looks like it's available on Peacock with a free account. I like seeing the various films based on this story, but if you're just going to watch one skip this and go with the 1938 version.

trailer:

Variety has a positive review, calling it "a diverting live-wire lark". Roger Ebert's site has a negative review. Rotten Tomatoes has an audience score of 40%.

  2. I haven't seen this one, but 40% is a low score. Too bad. In this day and age with CGI it could be a really good film. But I can't judge, not having seen it. Happy Friday!

    1. It was worth seeing just to see a modern adaptation. I wish it'd been better.

  3. For my money, you can't beat Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. Accept no substitutes! (Well, maybe Mel Brooks!)

    1. I like a variety, but it'd be nice if they'd do a better job ;)

  6. Of the 70 or so Robin Hood movies and TV treatments, I think the one I remember best is the TV series with Richard Greene. I've seen a couple of the movies too. And I once visited some part of the Forest of Arden near Warwick.

    1. There are so many adaptations of this story. It's a shame the best ones are the older ones.

  7. I think the older film would be my preferred choice :)

    All the best Jan

  8. This doesn't sound like something I would want to waste my time watching. At least, not from the trailer.

  9. Can't go wrong with Errol Flynn and Korngold's soundtrack blends perfectly with the story.

    1. Yes! That one is what all newer ones should at least _try_ to be better than. Or at least as good as.

  11. I don't think I care to see Robin Hood as an action figure stealing from a casino--LOL! ;)
