various and assorted miscellany
...has they say, a man's home is his castle.
They do say so.
Good morning, I am not familiar with this one Happy Saturday
This writer has done some masterful work.
I should check this out. Both the story and the film. Shirley Jackson is a great writer, but I don't know this particulary story. Thanks for the suggestion.
The book is well worth reading.
This looks really good!
Yes. I like seeing the genre classics adapted for film/tv.
I'll have to look for this on Tubi TV. Thanks for mentioning it.
The link in the post should take you directly to it. I hope you like it.
I watched this a few weeks ago on Prime. A good one for sure. Plus I like both actresses. Enjoy your day.
I'm watching the Bly Manor series now. I like what Prime is doing with these.
I'm intrigued by this film -- don't know when we might watch it.be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It is good :)
This actually sounds pretty decent. I may have to check this one out.
I was impressed. I loved the book so.
Of course the book will be better -- it's by Shirley Jackson and she rocks! But it looks very good.
Yes, but this is a good adaptation. I like seeing her continued appreciation. She does rock!
You know I don't watch many horror stories but this one might be a good psychological one...and it is Halloween month. LOL! ;)
The psychological horror films are a nice change from all the gore there was in -what was it- the 80s?
Sounds like this is a good one to watch, psychological horror - eek 😀. Happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x
Her books are good, too :) The film did it justice.
I watched this last night on Roku Tubi TV. For whatever reason, probably based on the image of the two women shown above for this, I was expecting a supernatural story. This movie was okay, but I found it a bit on the bizarre side, and ultimately thought it was a depressing story, when it reached its conclusion. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't my type of movie, so I would've skipped it, had I known what it would be like. (I don't like watching trailers / reading descriptions, because usually they give away too much of the movie, and then there is no suspense for me, when I watch the actual movie.)
It's really more mystery than horror, though I think it has an eerie feel to it. I love Shirley Jackson's work. You might like the book better.
