I should check this out. Both the story and the film. Shirley Jackson is a great writer, but I don't know this particulary story. Thanks for the suggestion.
I watched this last night on Roku Tubi TV. For whatever reason, probably based on the image of the two women shown above for this, I was expecting a supernatural story. This movie was okay, but I found it a bit on the bizarre side, and ultimately thought it was a depressing story, when it reached its conclusion. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't my type of movie, so I would've skipped it, had I known what it would be like. (I don't like watching trailers / reading descriptions, because usually they give away too much of the movie, and then there is no suspense for me, when I watch the actual movie.)
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
...has they say, a man's home is his castle.
ReplyDeleteThey do say so.

ReplyDeleteI was impressed. I loved the book so.
DeleteOf course the book will be better -- it's by Shirley Jackson and she rocks! But it looks very good.
ReplyDeleteYes, but this is a good adaptation. I like seeing her continued appreciation. She does rock!
DeleteYou know I don't watch many horror stories but this one might be a good psychological one...and it is Halloween month. LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe psychological horror films are a nice change from all the gore there was in -what was it- the 80s?
DeleteSounds like this is a good one to watch, psychological horror - eek 😀. Happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteHer books are good, too :) The film did it justice.

ReplyDeleteIt's really more mystery than horror, though I think it has an eerie feel to it. I love Shirley Jackson's work. You might like the book better.
