Not well reviewed, but I thought it was fun.

In these last days of early voting in our state I have a few things to say:
- Coronavirus is a real thing, people are dying, and a mask will help keep you from killing people.
- Trump is an amoral lying bully.
- Republicans don't have a lock on god or patriotism.
- Biden is an honorable man.
- Constitutional originalism is idolatrous.
I'd love any actual evidence you might have that contradicts any of these statements. Not I-saw-it-on-Fox or Trump-said, but actual evidence. I'd love to actually discuss it with you in a way that doesn't mean you call me a constitution-hating, baby-killing, godless commie demonrat libtard intent on the destruction of our country as you turn your back and walk off refusing to discuss the actual issues. Feel free to speak your mind in the comment section below or send me an email and you can be my FB friend.

Please share a cuppa with me:
and join me at the weekly T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.
I love that mug. What a sad day when Barrett was rammed through to fill RBG’s seat. If Barrett is such a Constitutional oringinalist, she should have recused herself from the nomination . At the time the Constitution was written Barrett would not have been allowed to vote, allowed to read for the Bar, let alone be a judge and appointed to the SJC. She’s a disgrace and just another ambitious 😺
ReplyDeleteThe mask thing. People keep saying Fauci said in the beginning of the pandemic, don’t wear masks. They weren’t paying attention. He said don’t wear the N95 masks. There eas such a shortage of these, and Fauci and the rest of the health officials wanted the N95 masks to be reserved for hospital and first responders. That’s why they told people to wear the regular masks, sew their own masks, or fold a bandana. Wear a mask.
I voted by mail. Twice. In my state’s primary and now in the general election. I traced my ballot and it was received safe and sound. Don’t believe the Fear mongering Republican (I restrained myself) agenda that voting by mail is fraught with fraud. Whether by mail or in person, VOTE
A Constitutional Originalist? Like Biblical literalists, there's not really any such thing. People interpret. Else, as you say, how could she accept this position?
DeletePeople change their recommendations based on the current knowledge available. When the pandemic began it wasn't known how widely this was spread by asymptomatic carriers. Now we know. Of course the people carrying "give my liberty or give me death by covid" don't understand how to change your practices based on the current scientific knowledge *sigh*
I voted early both times. I agree #VOTE!
Fauci said wearing masks do nothing for healthy people, but will help others if you have the covid. recently he has changed positions again and this virus is constantly changing as well-but then the left says not to take the vaccine-too many mixed messages
Deletefactchecking from Reuters: "at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, masks were not recommended for the general public, as authorities were trying to prevent a mask shortage for health workers and the extent of asymptomatic spread was unknown.
DeleteAs more information became available about SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, health authorities and organizations around the world have changed their stance towards the impact of face masks and the spread of the disease ( here ).
As of the publishing of this fact check, Fauci is encouraging people to wear face coverings. Fauci has reaffirmed this stance on interviews on Sept. 21, Aug. 10 and Aug. 5 that are visible here". https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-fauci-outdated-video-masks/fact-checkoutdated-video-of-fauci-saying-theres-no-reason-to-be-walking-around-with-a-mask-idUSKBN26T2TR
It's not a mixed message, and his message has shared the known science at the time. He's been saying "wear a mask" for months now, and he has _not_ recently changed positions on it (but you could give me some evidence on that if you believe he has). It really does help to keep up with the current science. I mean we know to wash our hands now, and that rats caused the plague, and that the four humors isn't a helpful medical viewpoint. We live and learn. Hopefully.
And seriously if "it'll help others if you have it but don't know it" isn't enough? Wow.
The left does not say not to take the vaccine. Where'd you get that?! (Here's me, member of the far left wing, and I'll be in line to take any vaccine supported by modern science, as will every other part of "the left" I know.) In my experience the anti-vaxxers don't tend to be on the left wing...
DeleteSo cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
Delete...oh, not a gun?
ReplyDeleteYes, guns :)
DeleteLove your mug Happy T wishes Kathy
ReplyDeleteThe mug is one in a set of 4. I'd love a ghost and a scarecrow :)
DeleteFirst this movie. I saw this, of course, and after watching it had to do some research on the Winchester house. So interesting. I did like the movie. As for your question on our government. I agree with you totally. I have not found one, not one person on the other side who can tell me why. With the exception of my oldest grandson and one of my nephews the entire rest of my family are with that "thing" in the white house. Needless to say my 3 brothers don't speak to me. My daughter and son call every day but we NEVER talk politics. I have asked family and no longer friends (on their part) what makes them follow "him" I get angry, defensive remarks. That have nothing to do with the question. I do tell people that it is amazing that they take advantage of all the democrats provide, and then hate the democrats for providing it. I live in Oregon and have been voting by mail for over 20 years. I voted and tracked my vote that was accepted and counted on Oct 19th. Vote vote vote and if you can help others to vote. I never thought that I would be protesting again for some of the same things I did back in the 60's
ReplyDeleteExactly. Their response is never to defend trump but to parrot him and to attack Biden. It's discouraging. It's hard to understand how they fell under this man's spell, but they have joined a cult. Sad.
DeleteSuper important to vote this time around! Loving your orange kitty cat mug, it's purr-fect for this time of year 😀. Take care and Happy T Tuesday! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes, #VOTE!
Deletecute cup! We drink Pete's coffee too. We toured winchester house in CA and whew! There is no limit to crazy there! Didn't know there was a film, I'm going to watch that! LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteI think there's another film, too :) I googled the actual house and would love to tour it.
DeleteI´ve actually seen that movie (a while ago) - wasn´t that bad! Interesting concept, esp for someone like me who gets lost easily!
ReplyDeleteAnd I loooove your mug!
Atm I´m reading a book on corona, by (German) Dr. Karina Reiss and Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi.
Weeee. If all true it is an eye opener (for how the virus is handled in Germany/Europe).
Trump? A pain as Merkel! I hope to see or hear neither in the future!!!
Back to the mug... 🎃😻 - a happy T-day to you, hugs from here!
I liked the film :) I'm afraid I know nothing about Merkel, but Trump has been worse than I feared. I'd hoped he would get good people, but he got yes-men and flunkies instead :(
Delete:)
ReplyDeleteYou are totally right about everything. And so far, no one has tried to refute a single thing you said, except for one person parroting the Republican Party Line on what Fauci said months ago, which you already answered (but they keep repeating it anyway, as if it had anything to do with the present situation). Even if he did say it, the evidence that has emerged from experience and careful observation is that wearing a mask protects you & others, and it’s stupid to keep arguing about whether Fauci and all the scientists got it right months ago. I’m wondering if anyone will actually try to answer you!
ReplyDeletebe well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
The trump supporters don't ever offer evidence, just opinion statements. It's a sad lack of critical thinking skills :(
DeleteOne of my favorite mugs!
ReplyDelete--A Pal
:) You're drinking out of the bat as we speak, I'm thinking :)
DeleteDarling cup. I'll be glad when this election is over. I can't recall one being so ugly in my entire life. That's a lot of years!
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day. Stay safe and stay well. Hugs, Eileen
We've enjoyed this set of mugs :)
DeleteVery cute mug! Happy Halloween :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteOh I do know the Winchester story- and hubby and I saw the movie as well. Quite interesting ...
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of coffee:)
Voting is an absolute MUST- and only time will tell what we'll be in for for the next 4 years.
Happy T day!
It's scary these days. I find the horror movies strangely helpful lol
DeleteI'll take the easy one if Biden were honorable how come he spent 47 years in government. Also I don't believe it is honorable to apply for a job that you don't appear to be physically up for. The covid plague is definitely real but is the fear it's generating logical. About a month ago the CDC issued a report stating that the true death count at the time was less than 10.000. The hospitals have been padding the totals from the beginning the get paid more for covid deaths. So at times they are attributing deaths to covid even if they have already recuperated from the virus and die from a heart attack. The average person who takes a little care has nothing to worry about from the virus.
ReplyDelete1) Many people devote themselves to lifelong public service. Work in government doesn't make you dishonorable.
Delete2) I'm not sure why you think Biden is physically unfit but trump is fit enough for office.
3) Can you give me a link to the CDC report citing a Covid death toll of less than 10,000? I can't find it.
4) It's not true hospitals are padding numbers of Covid deaths, and I'd challenge you to provide a shred of evidence that's true. It is true they get some federal financial relief for covid-related care (which does include care of people who die), but there's no evidence of fraud. And in fact the evidence suggest covid cases are _under_reported. There are links to sources at these sites: https://www.factcheck.org/2020/04/hospital-payments-and-the-covid-19-death-count/
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/oct/27/donald-trump/trump-wrong-claim-us-padding-covid-19-stats/
5) It's true most people survive the virus. Long-term effects are not yet known.
I don't have a link i heard it on the radio.Evidence of fraud is a tough prove. I have seen first hand with my wife while she was in the hospital and when the father in law was in and out of hospitals before he died, both cases before the covid. With my wife they called in a dietician because her potassium level was slightly low. fraudulently padding the bill probably not but still ethically questionable. The father in law had to sneak his prescriptions in the hospital wanted him to use their pills. One pill from the hospital cost more than the monthly prescription. So I find it pretty easy to believe they would pad covid stats. Doctors and nurses care about people hospitals care only about money. Anyone that has seen Biden has to wonder if he will survive 4years in office, anyone that has seen before and after pictures of the presidents know how rigorous the job is and how it wears them down. Maybe I'm wrong and he's hale and hearty but he sure doesn't look it. Public service doesn't make you dishonorable but 47 years of elected office sure increases the odds that you are less than honorable.
DeleteYou heard it on the radio? But you fact-checked it, right? You researched the claim? Surely you didn't just take "I heard it on the radio" as true? What did you find that supported the claim you heard on the radio?
DeleteYes, fraud can be hard to prove, but suspected fraud is investigated and evidence can be found. Calling in a dietician isn't fraud or ethically questionable and may in fact have been a requirement depending on clinical exam and lab test results. Requiring meds be dispensed in-hospital isn't fraud but standard hospital procedure for various reasons (and I'm sure one reason is drug pricing, but that isn't the only reason). Neither of those instances, which cost you more but were in no way fraudulent has anything at all to do with physicians misdiagnosing patients with covid for financial gain. I'd want to see evidence of that. There is none, and they have looked into it.
I've seen Biden. If trump (have you seen _him_?) can survive the job Biden can. I think if you see them side-by-side like we did in the debates Biden looks healthier and certainly more physically fit. They're both old, too old, but this is where we are.
I do not believe that any number of years of elected office increases the odds that you are less than honorable. Honor doesn't disappear over time. It's a character issue. Some are dishonorable going in -as I believe trump was. Others stay focused on service. My local US Representative, for example, is one with a lengthy record of public service. He may not be to everyone's liking, but he ain't corrupt.
There. have been at least a half dozen times where Biden made a few announcements and shut his campaigning down for the day before lunch. If you can't manage to work at more than 3 or 4 hours to be president you either don't care or aren't up to the job.
DeleteI said that fraud probably couldn't be proved but I'll stand by my statement that both instances were ethically questionable. Especially the dietician thing low potassium can be taken care of with a daily banana which is what we suggested instead of another prescription. Not to mention the fact that they tell you about cost of things after they do things sometimes it's a matter of life and death and they can't inform of extra costs but both my examples were far from life and death.
As for Biden and honor he has to have notes with so tells the right group what they want to hear. When he is Pennsylvania he tells people I'm not going to end fracking when hes courting the more liberal democrats he's going to abolish fracking. When someone asks him a simple question such a the packing of the Supreme court he tells them they don't need to know until after he's elected. I don't care what position you favor but stick to one. These so called honorable public servants are how we ended up with Trump in the first place. People are tired of politicians can't seem to talk out of only one side of their mouths.
Have you seen trump's schedule? roflol And he's president! His "executive time" (tweeting? watching Fox?) takes up most of his time in DC, and then there's golf. Which is costing the American people a fortune and enriching himself. I swear, trump cannot be defended. What I hear from trump supporters is never a defense of trump. It's always #ButBiden.
DeleteI'm sorry your experience with your hospital was so difficult. I've never known a case when patients were allowed to bring in their own prescriptions (that's standard practice everywhere I know of) or when a specialist/consultant couldn't be refused. I do know bananas aren't the be-all and end-all of low potassium treatment, and a dietician can be of great help, though I didn't realize they could prescribe medications. That's new to me. As long as you have for-profit health care I expect them to maximize profit, although they're losing money these days.
Biden is a politician. Context is everything. His statements on fracking are clear and have been clear all along, and I can't imagine why you can't look at what he's said (and not what somebody on the radio tells you he's said) and see that.
The Republican party has been packing the courts since Obama was in office. That Biden wants to look at the SCOTUS issue and take advice before announcing a policy doesn't surprise me. Why does it surprise you?
Honor and character matter. Corruption matters. We didn't end up with trump because of honorable public servants.
I'm still waiting for actual evidence of any of your claims about Biden. And "I heard it on the radio" ain't evidence.
I should have been clearer the covid death under 10,000 is deaths with covid as the only cause of death. It is all over the web from various sources the CDC says 94% of deaths are with coremorbidity only 6% percent can be solely claimed as covid deaths
DeleteI'd point you to the various fact checks showing your claim to be false. Here are 2:
Deletehttps://www.livescience.com/covid-19-comorbidities.html I'd encourage you to look at this.
https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-94-percent-covid-among-caus/fact-check-94-of-individuals-with-additional-causes-of-death-still-had-covid-19-idUSKBN25U2IO
It ain't rocket science to actually fact check these bogus claims. We'd be better off if people researched the crap they hear before they decided to spread it. "All over the web" is kinda like "heard it on the radio". Not evidence.
There is video evidence of Biden saying both things about fracking not just people on the radio. As for scotus issue your too smart to believe he's not holding back to avoid upsetting voters from the middle or the left. Either he has an opinion or he is waiting for someone to tell him his opinion. If you want a defense of Trump the courts would be a good place to start he told us when he was running that he would appoint conservative minded judges and he's done that. He said he would get us out of wars that seem to have no end and we've been reducing troop presence many places. He said he was going to cut the red tape and get businesses and the economy moving again. Personally I don't care for him he is a loud mouth and braggart, but if he would just shut his damn mouth and do his job he would be cruising to a win in landslide.
DeleteAgain, what Biden has said about fracking is clear in context, but context is important. You can't just pluck random soundbites out of the context in which they were spoken. Here's a good explanation of what he's said, when he's said it, and what the context was: https://www.factcheck.org/2020/10/trumps-misleading-attacks-on-biden-over-fracking/
DeleteWe knew trump's plans for the judges before he was elected, and I agree with you that what he's done is a promise kept and reason to defend him as far as his supporters are concerned. It was made possible by the refusal to appoint Obama's judges, and if that ain't court-packing I don't know what is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_judicial_appointment_controversies
McConnell is a disgrace.
As far as troop reductions, he talks big, but here's a chart from the Defense Department: https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/AB84/production/_114280934_optimised-us_troops-nc.png
The reductions are far less than under Obama. That's not to say I don't support troop reductions. I do. I'm glad to see it. It's interesting to see where Trump is doing it.
Not all regulations are "red tape". Some of the regulations having to do with health and safety and fair housing and such are not meaningless "red tape". Just look at how much of his deregulation affects the environment: https://www.brookings.edu/interactives/tracking-deregulation-in-the-trump-era/
His being a loudmouth and a braggart are the least of my concerns. It's his lies and self-dealing that bother me most.
Tit for tat we can't blame one if we don't blame the other George W Bush couldn't get a judge approved under Harry Reid's control of the Senate. In fact it was the Democrats who first weakened the filibuster in fact we can go all the way back to Robert Bork who the Dems vilified. This doesn't excuse the Republicans because they followed suit and added to the judicial contentiousness. You can call it what you want but the standard definition of packing the court is to add more seats than were previously in place. Court packing is the kind of political nonsense that has helped raise the acrimony where judges are concerned.
DeleteI would be a fool to say that Trump never lies, but when people point to his lies many of them like Mexico paying for the wall and the biggest inaugural crowd ever are exactly the bragging I was talking about. These and many of his so called lies are the words of someone too full of themselves and boasting of their accomplishments. Trumps lies are so inartfully done they could only be called bragging. Unlike his predecessor who lied with much more skill, he could tell people that they would be able to keep their health insurance plans with a straight face. They all lie it just helps if you have most of the major news agencies covering your behind. Lying and self dealing is the way of politics, the politician who is not far better off after leaving office are few and far between.
The question is can we be honest enough with ourselves to admit our guy is not a saint either.
What Reid did led the way, I agree, but the degree to which the republicans obstructed Obama was unprecedented. That's the only reason trump had so many judicial vacancies available for him to fill.
DeleteBork was an entirely different matter. He was nominated on 7/1/1987. Opposition to Bork was based on his overtly stated desire to roll back civil rights and his role in Watergate. After his nomination failed, Kennedy was nominated in his stead on 11/11/1987 and confirmed by the Senate with a vote of 97-0.
You can call it inartful bragging if you wish, but he lies. He persists in his lies when there's proof to the contrary. Obama saying we could keep our insurance was not a lie but an assumption the law would work as written. It did depend on states buying in (which they didn't, our state still refusing to expand Medicaid) and on the individual mandate (which would make the plan possible for health insurance companies to not lose money).
Lying and self-dealing are not always the way in politics. I continue to disagree that all politicians lie, though they all exaggerate at times (which is where I put trump's claim about his inauguration size) and they all make mistakes or bad projections. Self-dealing in the way it's playing out under trump is horrifying and unprecedented in modern life. Presidents, for example, generally place their finances and properties in blind trusts.
Now come on all we ever heard when Obama was President is how smart he was and now your telling me he wasn't smart enough to know that if you mandate insurance companies pay for all kinds of added freebies they weren't going to have to charge more, Either he is an idiot or a liar. Those are the lies that scare me more the lies that reasonably intelligent people can believe. All this lying happened while hiding the bill from the public until it had already been passed. Kind of like Biden telling people they will have to wait until he is elected to tell us if he wants to add seats to scotus.
DeleteObama has no one to blame for unfilled judicial vacancies he had the votes in the Senate to confirm who ever he wanted in the beginning. He wasted his political advantage passing health care legislation without seeking compromise with the Republicans. In fact he got snarky and told them elections have consequences, when the Rep tried to negotiate.
"if you mandate insurance companies pay for all kinds of added freebies" isn't what I said. I said the individual mandate got thrown out. That's really what was going to make it possible for our currently profit-driven health insurance companies to make a profit. Remember non-profit health insurance companies? I do. There was no lying about the bill. The individual mandate was thrown out after the bill was enacted.
DeleteIt's true Democrats held the House during Obama's first two years, and Pelosi was good at her job. The Senate, though, that's another story, and Democrats had “total control” of the Senate from September 24, 2009 until February 4, 2010. 4 months. So, no, it's not true that Obama "had the votes in the Senate to confirm who ever he wanted in the beginning."
Obama took Medicare-for-all single-payer health off the table completely, before "negotiations" ever began. To call Republican activity during that process "negotiation" is a misuse of the word lol and they've spent all their energy on health care since then on sabotaging it and fighting it in court instead of fixing what they don't like and improving it legislatively, which was clearly within their power to do. There is no Republican healthcare plan; there is no Trump healthcare plan; there is just a dug-in objection to everything with Obama's name associated with it. That seems to be what's keeping our governor from the Medicaid expansion Obama assumed states would sign up for. We have had multiple hospital closures in our state because of this.
Happy Halloween! :)
That is not what I meant when I said insurance companies had freebies mandated The law it self mandated Free mammograms and slew of other treatments you can't dictate a whole bunch of treatments be free even if you tell everyone they have to buy insurance. What the law did was make things marginally better for 30 million people at the expense of 310 million people, and the 30 million is probably over stated because many of those people were perfectly happy without health insurance.
DeleteObama assumed states would sign-up for it only the Feds were only going to foot the bill for a short while and than the state was going to be on the hook for the added expenses. All these grand plans sound great but there is no turning back once you've start giving things away. It was a great misjudgment on the Democrats part because the plan was neither well thought out or universally desired.
I appreciate your ability to disagree and still stay civil.
You have a safe and Happy Halloween as well.
Oh, I see! Yes, but not free, just included in the cost of the insurance. There's a definite difference there. And as I understand it, the ones mandated to not require co-pays were preventative things that would be much cheaper to provide than the condition they're intended to prevent. That said, Republicans could've tweaked the ACA in the legislature all they wanted instead of going to the courts to take down the whole thing.
DeleteOur state's refusal to expand Medicaid has cost us more than expanding it would have in that so many hospitals have closed and so many people who don't currently qualify for Medicaid have no insurance at all. Having no insurance at all may be something the healthy person may be perfectly happy with until they need extensive health care. Like car insurance which we're required to have, or homeowners insurance which we're required to have... having it when you don't need it ensures you have it when you need it and broadens the "customer" base to include folks who aren't a high risk to the insurance company.
Oh, I do love political discussion! I enjoy talking about it, not to convince but just to exchange ideas. Thank you for being willing to talk with me :) I miss your blog posts.
I got a decent photo of last night's Halloween Blue Moon. We stayed in and ate candy and watched some detective mystery show. I confess I'm a bit burned out on horror lol Happy All Saints' Day!
The home and auto insurance being mandatory why not health insurance argument has a problem. If your 19 auto insurance is significantly more expensive and if your male even more so. if you have to many tickets or accidents your rates go up. Home insurance while a smart thing to have is only mandatory while you have a loan. Health insurance is supposed to charge the same rate for a 26 year old as a 58 year old diabetic. People are not buying health care the are buying insurance against the cost and insurance companies have to figure the odds.
DeleteWe passed out candy had about 70 kids show up. I dropped the candy down a 7 foot long length of pvc.
Good Times
I'm not actually all that familiar with how the different kinds of insurance compare over the nation. Other kinds of insurance, including auto and homeowners, are required where I live. That health insurance is treated so differently, that people balk at being required to have it when for ages it's been seen as a benefit to be grateful for, seems to me to be more a matter of how much profit-driven health insurance companies charge than a basic philosophical objection. I would love to see how this would've been managed by the companies back when they were required to be non-profit entities. To have health care available to everybody -basic preventive care, for example, not frills- is a public benefit. Having some kind of health insurance makes health care more accessible. As taxpayers we eat the cost for the uninsured who can't self-pay, and these days with costs what they are there are few who can self-fund all their health care. That's why we have go-fund-me campaigns and medical bankruptcy. It's one of the reasons we have so many hospital closures here.
DeleteI'm thinking the problem is more the smallifying of the risk pool when health insurance isn't required. And, of course, the for-profit status of health insurance companies.
We haven't had trick-or-treaters in 15 years lol We still buy candy, but we eat it ourselves. Your system sounds like one parents would feel safe with.
The tricker treaters loved it too.
DeleteI think pricing is a major problem no one knows what any given procedure is going to cost. How can insurance be one price Medicare another and out of pocket almost always way higher than the other two. I would like to see posted prices so that people knew what was going on before they got the bill.
Pricing is ridiculous. It ought to be transparent. I'd favor going back to not-for-profit insurance companies for starters. That medication prices for the same meds are so much cheaper elsewhere is maddening.
DeleteTomorrow is the election, and I'm looking forward to coverage. I've got no idea how this'll turn out.
Well said. Debating seems to be a lost art, many seem to want to only argue. I am praying for the safety of all as you cast your votes in the upcoming election.
ReplyDeleteI'd settle for simple conversation with opinions backed up by actual evidence lol
DeleteI am going to check out this movie. I loved visiting the Winchester House years ago. It is supposedly haunted. I didn't see any ghosts. And hurrah hurrah for speaking your mind. It is my mind too. And I am not parroting you. We say the same things in my house too. All you have to do is look at the evidence, the science and actually think. I was reading some of the other comments you got and it is amazing how people say things they can't show evidence for. Like the CDC saying there is less than 10,000 deaths. If it was so low, then covid wouldn't be on the news all the time. Have a great T day.
ReplyDeleteThere are places here that are supposed to be haunted, and the stories add some zest to going there.
DeleteEvidence, science, thought? Yes! Sign me up :)
Good post, you got some BIG truths out there.Trump is the worst horror film in a long time! Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeletetrump has done irreparable harm to our country. Just the numbers of the judges, from vacancies caused by Republicans refusing to act on Obama's nominations... Talk about court-packing! :(
DeleteI totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteI think they absolutely need to teach critical thinking in school again. Logic is vastly underrated. I believe my sister still lives in the land of no science, facts, proof, or common sense. I'm not sure because we have only spoken a few times in the past four years--LOL! ;)
It's hard to understand how we got here, where requests for evidence are met with dismissal and MAGA chants and #ButTheBabies *sigh*
DeleteI enjoyed that movie, so I don't care what the critics said. I love your cat mug. I try not to discuss politics. Most of America is so polarized that it's difficult to have any discussions unless one agrees 100% with the other person's opinions. I'll be happy when the election is over, so I don't have to hear about Trump anymore. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteI just really want to talk about these issues with people who disagree, but I prefer fact to opinion and evidence to "I trust trump" :(
DeleteI think critics are sometimes not understanding that not every movie needs to be Citizen Kane lol
I am leaving this generic message for everyone who visited and participated in T Tuesday. I want to thank you for visiting. You may have noticed I was offline off and on for three days. I kept losing electricity. Each time, I was able to visit a few people before the electricity went out again. The third time, I was leaving a comment for Valerie when I heard a huge BOOM. There was a flash of light, the windows and walls shook. It felt like an earthquake to me, but it only lasted a second or two. I believe they have finally fixed the electricity in my neighborhood. I won’t know until I get to explore the internet, but it may have been very local. I know I saw two bucket trucks driving up my street less than an hour after it happened. With no heat, the temperatures both nights dipped into the mid-20s F (low 4s C). Thanks for your participation and thanks for hopefully understanding why I was unable to visit for T this week.
ReplyDeleteI also want to stop long enough to say here's how I see Trump:
1. Deny
2. Attack
3. Control the narrative
4. Play the victim
5. Place blame elsewhere
I'm a Libertarian, and have always voted with my party for President. I can truthfully say I didn't vote for either Trump OR Hillary in '16. BUT, this year, I know the Libertarians don't stand a chance, so I voted for the person who I believe can get the misogynist out of the Oval Office.
I'm so sorry you have such trouble with your internet, and this sounds scary!
DeleteI have my own disagreements with libertarianism (we could discuss it sometime), but I think we can come together on this one. Trump is dangerous.
It wasn't the internet, but my electricity that was out. No heat, no lights, no warmth, and yes, NO internet. No going to the basement, either.
DeleteI suspect my idea of Libertarianism is different from most people's. I always tell people I'm an economic conservative and a social/humanitarian liberal. I also don't believe people have the right to harm anyone, BUT if you harm me, I'm not a wimp. I'll certainly retaliate.
Going to the basement never ends well in the horror movies roflol! I've never lived in a house with a basement.
DeleteThere's a range within Libertarianism, as there is within the Democratic party. It makes for interesting discussion :)
