I have never heard of the theremin before, but how cool! It makes some beautiful music. Not if I tried it though. I think then you would need to leave the room. Hee-hee. Thanks for sharing. I like to learn about new things. Hugs-Erika
I remember finding out what was making that sound in those old science fiction films. I've always wanted one. I've also always wanted a big crystal ball and a hurdy gurdy ;) We can't have everything lol
I saw your comment about cemeteries where you are close at dusk, so I had to come back to say: they do here in Connecticut, too. Let's just say, hypothetically, I might've been in that cemetery after dark, when I wasn't supposed to be. ;-)
I have a Halloween count down decoration, too: 30 days left. Time to put up your decorations. :-) (Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.)
My family cemetery is gated and locked at dusk. But... I've been to open country cemeteries, and the atmosphere at night is like you're in a different place. Which in a way you are. I love Halloween!
I never knew how they worked. Strange, eh? I think Sheldon was trying to learn how to play one on Big Bang. Googled it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnTLZtZzrWU
I have no idea how I missed this. What a fun video. I liked how I was able to learn how it worked, or I would never have guessed. Its absolutely amazing.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
So cool!

ReplyDeleteI'd love to try one just to see what it's like.
DeleteI didn't realize it was that old.
ReplyDeleteI know! Older than I thought, too.

DeleteFascinating! I didn't realize how a theremin was played before watching the video. Countless SciFi movies wouldn't be the same without it!
ReplyDeleteikr?! That eerie sound!

Cool! I'd forgotten that episode lol
DeleteReally neat little film clip. I have seen theremin players working as street musicians, as well as hearing it used for atmosphere in movies.
ReplyDeleteBe well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Seeing them played by street musicians?! I'd love that!
