The Conjuring

The Conjuring is a 2013 award-winning horror film based on a true story and is the first in an ongoing series of films about hauntings. I watched it on Netflix. This film skips the gore and concentrates on increasing tension.

trailer:

Variety calls it "A sensationally entertaining old-school freakout and one of the smartest, most viscerally effective thrillers in recent memory." Cinema Blend says, "The Conjuring is an impressively frightening and engaging journey." Empire Online says, "A strong cast and an atmosphere of real dread mean that despite a catalogue of immediately recognisable ghost devices, The Conjuring amounts to more than the sum of its scary parts." There's an 85% consensus score at Rotten Tomatoes.

  1. Your list of horror movies, monster movies, and the like is getting more and more impressive. I don't think any of them would agree with me: the world and national scene, politically and otherwise, has enough horror for two Halloweens.

    1. Sometimes a horror movie to take the mind off real-life horror is just the ticket.

  3. I love this movie!!!! I also like the sequels. There are actresses in this movie that are some of my favorites but that aside this is a great scar story based on real people. Good choice today.

  4. This movie was fantastic, and shows how a scary movie doesn't need to have swearing, nudity, etc. in it, to be scary. (I'm not a prude, but when I watch certain types of movies, I don't want any unneeded nonsense in them: I want a good story.) I have this on DVD and will be watching it as part of my Halloween movies watching during October. :-)

  9. I'm not really great with thrillers but ones that deal more with suspense than gore are more appealing. I may need to check this one out.
