Waiting for Godot is the 1961 TV adaptation of Samuel Beckett's play. This stars Zero Mostel and Burgess Meredith. I liked the play when I first read it in high school and enjoyed watching this.
I studied this at university and loved the play and all the discussions. I've read it quite a few times since. Strangely, I have never enjoyed watching a performance of it!
I remember reading the play and I saw this, but I can't remember where or when. Good grief it was made when I was ten years old--LOL! Strange play, Provokes discussions--LOL!
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
...two actors who's names I recognize.
ReplyDeleteYes. You can't go wrong :)

ReplyDeleteI rarely enjoy _reading_ plays. Watching them is what they were meant for, after all ;)
DeleteI started to watch it, but time got away from me, so I'll have to pick it up later tonight. Almost two hours is more than I have time for right now.
ReplyDeleteThe credits start at about 1:41/1:42, if that helps, so it's closer to an hour and a half than 2 hours. I hope if you get back to it you enjoy it :)
DeleteUgh, was forced to read this in high school
ReplyDeleteI think they do us a great disservice making us read plays. It's the moral equivalent of reading a screenplay instead of watching the movie.
DeleteI never minded reading Shakespeare
DeleteI actually enjoyed reading Eugene O'Neill, but it's the exception for me.

ReplyDeleteIt does provoke discussion, I agree :)
DeleteThis is a classic, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYes. I was happy to find the video available.
DeleteI haven't waited for Godot since college. Now I'm wondering how many theatre companies will be doing this the next time they get to perform live.
ReplyDeleteSeasons are cancelled for the rest of the year :( Orchestras are in the same fix :(
