Subarnarekha

Subarnarekha is a 1962 Bengali film that deals with the aftermath of the 1947 partition of India. It appears on several lists of greatest films.

  3. It's ironic that I just finished watching a series offered on PBS about a former British soldier in the East India Company, who sided with India against the company. Seems India is on the forefront of several films today. I'm eager to watch this one to see how different it is to the mid to late 18th Century when the East India Company tried to control India.

  5. This sounds really fascinating seeing they are still dealing with the partition. I hd an Indian student a few years back who was big into sports and when India played Pakistan some deep hatred came out. It was a little bit scary. I'm not saying he was what all Indian students thought, but it said something to me about the Partition. Happy Friday. Hugs-Erika
