Tarzan and the Lost Safari

Tarzan and the Lost Safari is a 1957 Gordon Scott Tarzan movie. It was the first color Tarzan film and is of significance because of that. I'm a huge Johnny Weissmuller fan, and Scott leaves me cold.

trailer:

Variety says, "Gordon Scott has the physique for the title role and does acceptably by it."

DVD Talk calls it an "entertaining Gordon Scott jungle romp" and says,
The movie is short on action and plays like a stage-bound television show, augmented by some beautiful African scenery and the expected cutaways to animal stock shots. The talented cast does what it can with a script with more unintentional comedy than usual.

  1. I don't know if I've seen this Tarzan film but I have seen a couple of these 1950 ones. They used to be on TV a lot of Saturdays when I was a kid. I can't say I remember a lot of details about them however. Guess it's my far from kid age brain. Ha-ha! Happy Friday. Hugs-Erika

  2. The tv network called Heroes and Icons (H & I) shows Tarzan every day. I've seen a couple of them, but they don't really interest me. I have never seen the movie, any of the Tarzan movies, in fact.

  4. I don't know this Tarzan. The first Tarzan movie I saw was at a drive-in when I was 7 called "Tarzan's Three Challenges" it starred Jock Mahoney as Tarzan. Weissmuller had a better jungle call. I also like Ron Ely as Tarzan on the television show in the 60s. No one could imitate the Weissmuller yell better than Carol Burnett.

  5. I think I have seen him as Tarzan many year ago and he was just so-so. Or the scripts were not great or something. :)

    1. Yes, something... I'm not quite sure why his Tarzan doesn't do it for me.
