The Memphis Botanic Gardens Rose Garden
The Rose Garden has changed a great deal since I was young and is now more suited as a wedding or reception venue with all that concrete, but there are still some roses. I've done my best to show views without the large concrete plaza in sight.
The sights and smells of roses are sweet, and I haven't lived in a home with roses in decades. It's wonderful to have the Memphis Botanic Gardens here.

Wow, the gardens are so beautiful! I love the wide paths and structural design, it must be a lovely place to visit and I bet the sights and smells of the roses were amazing 😁. Happy weekend! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteIt is more accessible with the wide concrete paths, and that's a good thing.
DeleteThose gardens are so lovely. I like the arch with the vine growing up it. Roses have such a beautiful scent but so many of the types have had the scent bred out of them, it's why I like the David Austin roses best, old world charm. You are fortunate to have the Memphis Gardens close to enjoy - lovely photo of the rose in the last one.
ReplyDeleteThose old roses' scent is a treasure. I know the advantages to the new "models" but love the old ones best, too.
DeleteThx :) I did want one close-up of a red rose.
The gardens are a dramatic setting. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey put some work into the design. It's striking even when the roses aren't in bloom.
DeleteSimply gorgeous. I must have the only rose bush in the world that doesn't have a scent to it. I miss the familiar scent of roses. Thanks for taking us with you.
ReplyDeleteSo many of the roses have been bred for other qualities and have lost their scent. It's a shame :(
DeleteIt is REALLY beautiful there. I'm sure the fact that it is a beautiful venue for a wedding helps them support the gardens. And you can still enjoy it, and probably not get your shoes all dusty either. Happy Saturday. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThey do a booming business renting various parts of the gardens for events, and I'm glad they can make money that way to benefit the garden. It's just that sometimes I have this feeling of nostalgia sweep over me and miss what the garden was like back in the 60s. Time brings change, and we could've done much worse than what they've done here, that's certain :)
DeleteBeautiful place! Wow! Just so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
It's a lovely place to sit any time of year, but when the roses are in bloom it's wonderful :)
DeleteHow beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteThe benches are well-placed, I think :)
