Jungle Jim

Jungle Jim (1948) is the first film in a series starring Johnny Weissmuller about an African adventurer. These are wonderful! And a perfect vehicle for a slightly older Weismuller who had acted his way beyond the near-naked Tarzan films. George Reeves is the bad guy in this one. I was a serious fan of these films and the TV series based on the same character when I was in elementary school and could watch them on television.

TCM has information.

  1. I don't know if I've seen these. I need to check them out. It must have been fun to live in a time when movies were a lot cheaper to go to and a Saturday with all the features was the thing to do.Happy Monday. Hugs-Erika

  3. I've never even heard of this film OR the series, but I know you are a big fan of Weismuller.

I have to agree about the cost of films today. First run films are out of sight, and IMAX films are even worse. I'm so glad I don't have the urge to see most films today.

    1. I was pleased he was able to continue his career after he was too old to be Tarzan. The Jungle Jim character was such a good fit.

We rarely go out to movies. We have a stack of DVDs we picked up cheap used, and we're working our way through those.
