Lichterman Nature Center in Autumn

The Lichterman Nature Center is a certified arboretum and nature center in Memphis, TN. You can see a map at this link. I walked the lake and forest trails this time.

Lake Trail:

They had a display of scarecrows for the fall season:

Forest Trail:

This is an enjoyable park to walk in, although I'll have to admit I preferred it when it was less developed and less geared to school groups. Even so, it's still a wonderful place to experience nature and seasonal changes.

  1. This is a gorgeous place to walk. I think the addition of the scarecrows is the best. I needed the reminder that it is still fall and not yet winter, since it feels so much like winter here. I would also love to walk here. It has a little bit of everything to offer from your photos. Happy Sunday. hugs-Erika

    1. There's also a meadow trail that I didn't walk this last time I went. It does have a variety of environments :)

  2. What awesome photos of the Lichterman Nature Center. It was a beautiful area and I can see walking there, too. I really LOVED the scarecrows. Grandpa's scarecrow was my favorite, but I also liked Cruella De Ville and Scare Eagle. I thought Reading Rules was clever, but didn't really remind me of a scarecrow. Thanks for taking us on your walk and sharing these scarecrows with us.

    1. I didn't take photos of nearly all the scarecrows. They were lined up all along the area around the visitor center. I liked Grandpa's scarecrow best, too :)

    1. The tin man is a permanent fixture. I'm not sure when or why he got installed, but he does add a bit of flair ;)

  4. Beautiful walkways. Lots of your trees are still green! The scarecrows really make it fun and whimsical. :)

    1. Yes, fall color has barely come. It's hard to tell if we won't get much color or if it just hasn't come yet.
