The New York Times has a positive review. Empire Online calls it "smart, ingenious and heartwarming."
Roger Ebert gives it 3.5 out of 4 stars and says, ""Stranger Than Fiction" is a meditation on life, art and romance, and on the kinds of responsibility we have. Such an uncommonly intelligent film does not often get made." Rotten Tomatoes has an audience rating of 85%.
I have never been a fan of comedy or Will Ferrell, but I actually saw this movie on DVD and didn't hate it. I think the main reason I liked it was because of the scenes from Chicago I could actually identify. Thanks for reviewing it.
ReplyDelete"Didn't hate it" lol I guess sometimes that's enough :)
DeleteI'm not a Will Ferrell fan except for Elf either. I haven't seen this film, but since it got pretty good reviews it might be worth the watch.Happy new week.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a different concept, and I think that's what I liked about it.
DeleteI'm not a big fan of Will Ferrell either, not even Elf and I tend to love all things Christmas ...lol 😁. I will probably give this film a try as you enjoyed it so much 😁. Thanks and wishing you a happy new week! J 😊
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it.
DeleteElf is more slapsticky than I like, but it's so much better than I had expected. This film doesn't go the slapstick route at all, which I appreciated.
I join the not-a-fan-of-Will-Ferrell group and only watched this because Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson were in it. Was surprisingly good. :)
ReplyDeleteThere's something else we all have in common: being not-a-fan-of-Will-Ferrell :) I do like Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson. I don't remember how I came across this one, but I was also surprised to like it.
