Illegal

Illegal is a 1955 Edward G. Robinson film noir. Also in this are Ellen Corby, Jayne Mansfield, Hugh Marlowe, Edward Platt, Albert Dekker, and Howard St. John. Deforest Kelley plays the man unjustly sent to his death. You can hardly go wrong with Edward G. Robinson, even though this isn't his best.

trailer:

This movie doesn't get much attention, and reviews are scarce. Rotten Tomatoes doesn't even have a critics score.

  1. Oh, back in the day I really liked Edward G. Robinson. You are right, if you saw that he was in a movie you knew it would be a good one.

    1. He's an actor who can play good guys and bad, everyman characters and master criminals. Not many have such acting skill.

  2. You're right. He could play innocents or villains, misfits or ladies man. Looks like it might be a pretty good movie than got ignored. :)

    1. It's surprising given his lack of leading man looks that he got to play so many different lead roles.

  3. I am not sure I ever saw Edward G. Robinson in any movie. Just goes to show how movie illiterate I am.

    1. I'd recommend him! If you've seen The 10 Commandements, he had a role in that, and Soylent Green has his last film appearance. Brilliant. I'd suggest maybe Little Caesar, Key Largo, Scarlet Street... He's in Double Indemnity, which is a noir classic, with Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck. The Woman in the Window is one of my favorites and you can watch it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOQeqcPocsQ He was my maternal granddaddy's favorite actor.
