Happy Birthday, Leon Redbone! He turns 67 today. He retired last year, and I trust he's enjoying himself immensely. I don't remember the first time I heard him, but I've always gotten such a big kick out of him.
I must lead a very sheltered life, because I have never heard of Leon Redbone before. It was great that you introduced me to him, so I can now appreciate him, too.
OMGosh! I haven't heard him for years! I think I first saw him on a talk show. Might have been Johnny Carson. I think he sang My Walking Stick and something else. Thanks for this. I have always gotten such a kick out of him. He acted very old when he was young. Now he is getting older--LOL! ;)
He brings a smile to my face every time I hear him. May he enjoy a long and healthy retirement, bless him. I didn't have many LPs, but I had a couple of his.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.

ReplyDeleteI think I first heard him in the mid 70s, maybe? Such a distinct voice and persona :)
