by Isaac Soyer (1907-1981), part of the permanent collection at the Memphis Brooks Museum. Soyer was a registered WPA artist. He immigrated to the U.S.A. with his parents, who were born in Russia.

What a fabulous painting. His artistic style really fits the times, when artists were hired by the government to create art. If only that were the case today. Thanks for sharing this lovely painting with us for T this Tuesday, and thanks for you really heartfelt comment on my blog.

Enjoyed the painting. Couldn't help but think my how times have changed. Now both those figures would have their cellphones in their hands. Maybe the woman would be taking a picture of her food and drink for Tuesday! :-D
