I went to Sally's to see this. Wonderful music, most of which was before my time.
I really enjoyed the Don McLean song. I've read a lot about the various interpretations of it, and I've always felt he stopped a decade too soon, because he should have included the song written and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young: Four Dead in Ohio. But I realize the focus this day was on Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper. Thanks for sharing these because the music must NEVER die, even Don McLean's!
The Kent State song was released only a year before American Pie. He did finally reveal the lyric meanings in 2015 when the original manuscript and notes were auctioned, but not everything was explained. We'll still be able to argue over those ;)
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful music :-). Wishing you a lovely weekend! J :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it :)
DeleteThanks for sharing these wonderful songs and for reminding us of this day.
ReplyDeleteSo many of the older musicians are forgotten as time passes. :(
