Images Journal lists it as one of the top 30 western films. Empire Online concludes, "A nice slant on the revenge western from a true master film-maker." Rotten Tomatoes has a critics score of 100%.
Don't you just love the word "Technicolor?" I have read that is how old movies made the transition from B & W to color and this was the overlap period. Today if a film is shot in B & W, it's unique, but back then, color seemed to be the anomaly. I'm not a western fan, but thanks for reviewing it, anyway.
I only see black and white in "art" films these days. I read that Technicolor was invented in 1916, much earlier than I had thought. I'm sometimes in the mood for a western. I got burned out on anything western decades ago when everything on tv was a western lol, but there are some great western films out there.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
