In a Cup of Tea
In a Cup of Tea is one part of the Japanese film Kwaidan, directed by Masaki Kobayashi. In this story, a man keeps seeing a face in his cup of tea. Here's a trailer:

I watch the DVD of this complete film every year. It's not the usual run-of-the-mill horror movie but tends more towards a ghost story feel. It's more eerie than scary. I like the other parts of the film, too. They work together nicely. I've never seen a face in my tea. Most likely the other T(ea) Party-goers over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's weekly gathering aren't doing scary things. But I'm sure there are seasonal offerings of some sort there.

What a fun trailer. Yep, I was able to play it, surprising, since I can't get most of these videos to work. One of the things I most enjoyed was the bamboo fence. That was SO clever. Wish I could get my bamboo that big.
ReplyDeleteI was waiting to see what happened after he drank the tea, but I guess that is why it's a trailer. Great sneak peek, since most of these trailers give so much away.
Thanks for sharing this one with us for T this Tuesday. BTW, I'm STILL loving this series of ghost/horror/murder series leading up to Halloween.
You can see the entire segment in that 2nd video. The first one is just a trailer. I'm glad you're enjoying the taste of "horror" :)
DeleteFun clip and I must admit I am more into 'eerie' than 'horror' which is just not my cup of tea (gives me nightmares and such!)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day!
oxo
Some of the horror is just too much for me, too. Happy T Day :)
Deletethe trailer has piqued my curiosity now but the movie must wait. I must go get my walk in before the rain comes. I like an eerie ghostly quality in a movie:) Thanks for sharing and happy T day!
ReplyDeleteThe full movie has 3 stories, and "In a Cup of Tea" is one of them. I hope you like it :)
Deleteoops, It may have 4 stories in it... I need to re-watch it.
Deletedefinitely creepy....so when he drinks the water, does the guy go into him and possess him? :) just wonderin'.... great clip to go with tea day!
ReplyDeleteMore a haunting than a possession, if I'm remembering it right. It's actually been a couple of years since I saw this.
DeleteVery interesting !
ReplyDeleteI'm finding Asian horror very interesting.
DeleteThe trailer was very atmospheric, liked the costume/clothing and setting. I'll have to check my cup of tea this afternoon for images.
ReplyDeleteDarla
I'd rather read tea leaves in my cup ;)
DeleteI'm drinking my tea/coffee with my eyes CLOSED from now on....LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy T-say
Excellent idea! lol
DeleteI found it kind of funny instead of scary, to be honest. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day! :)
That's the spirit! :)
DeleteI only ever see my face in my cuppa tea and that is how I would like it to stay!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
xx
I'm definitely with you there! Happy Tea Day :)
DeleteInteresting! Glad it wasn't me seeing a face in my tea...
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm always glad when things that happen in horror movies don't happen to me lol
DeleteWEll that was eerie........ the trailer i mean....... the way his face kept getting closer..OOOooooOOOooo.... I might have to go watch the whole thing now! :) Thanks for sharing this Tday! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteIt does have an eerie feel to it, doesn't it! I hope you like it :)
DeleteYes, definitely eerie! Thanks for searching out my correct post!
ReplyDeleteSometimes Mr. Linky has a mind of his own lol
DeleteI'm not a fan of sacry things, be they implied or otherwise, so I will take everyone's word for it that this was a good sneaky peek.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my post. I find it fascinatin to hear of places that rarely have buses or trains, as they are an everyday thing for us, being Wee Mans favourite things, but also in general. Happy T Day :o))
Scary/creepy movies aren't for everyone, that's the truth. Amtrak comes through here on its way from Chicago to New Orleans (I think), but that's it.
DeleteI can't do anything scary!
ReplyDeleteI started with fairy tales. I always loved fairy tales. :)
DeleteLol..good that my cup is so big, that I can't see anything in the tea....
ReplyDeleteThere's another great reason for using a big cup ;) I like it!
DeleteI like watching horror movies once in a while-:) Thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week
Variety is the spice of life, I think. Anything can be overdone.
DeleteHello and Happy T Day, sorry I'm late getting here. Who would have thought drinking tea would be a little eerie, hoping no faces show in mine. Hope your having a good week, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed! You have a good week, too :)
