Mulan

Mulan is a 2020 adventure film, a live action adaptation of the animated film. I watched it on Disney+ after I finished The Mandalorian. The Mandalorian is really the only thing on Disney+ I'm interested in, but since we were paying for the whole month... I enjoyed Mulan. Jet Li is in this. It was good to see Rosalind Chao again.

Roger Ebert's site has a positive review. 73% of Rotten Tomatoes critics liked it.

  1. out of the modern Disney cartoons, Mulan was my favorite. I haven't seen the live action and will have to wait to see if it's offered on Netflix or Prime

    1. I'm the opposite of a Disney fan. That said, I'm not a fanatic about it ;)

  3. The Mandalorian is a really good series, and I liked this version of Mulan. I know my daughter didn't like it though. Did you watch Wanda Vision? I really enjoyed that series, which is Avengers related. That one is cleverly done. Happy Sunday!

    1. IKR?! It's just astounding. He has a history of interfering mightily in local Democratic city affairs to enforce a wingnut agenda while now objecting to his wingnut state being interfered with in any way. "I'll sue!" reminds me of Sally in the Charlie Brown Halloween special.

    2. He sold some bizarre idea that teens watching a video on teens getting vaccinated was a crime (or against the law of his land) and the video had to be taken down. If only someone would remind him that vaccines may have saved his life from polio, smallpox, measles, and other deadly diseases when he was young.

    3. Our state health department responded to a question from health care providers about whether or not vaccinating minors with parental permission/presence is legal here. It is. But Lee didn't like it so removed all the advocacy materials *sigh*

"Earlier this year, Fiscus released a memo detailing Tennessee’s Mature Minor Doctrine, which traces back to a 1987 state Supreme Court case and allows providers to vaccinate children 14 and up without a parent’s consent. The memo led to a firestorm at a legislative meeting last month among Republicans."

    4. I'd like to have been a fly on the wall during that firestorm.

    5. He had no experience in government before this, and I think he's just tryinta stay on the "right" side of that fundie conservative base. It's frustrating that we have this partisan interference in public health policy. Tennessee is now making the national news for being The Best at spreading Covid :( Makes me want to scream :(

    6. It's hell when you are a liberal in a conservative, Trump friendly state. And yes, TN is in the news about the high rate of Covid cases. But leadership always trickles down.

    7. And we have Marsha Blackburn to our shame, too. It's hard being Memphis. We're the stepchildren of the state :(

Happy Sunday wishes and have a good week ahead.

    1. It looks like we may be stuck with Disney because of it being tied to some must-have sports channel. It's hard to keep up.
