Ménilmontant (1926)

Ménilmontant is a 1926 French short (38 minutes) silent film directed by Dimitri Kirsanoff. It's the story of two sisters making their way in Paris.



Film Reference calls it "one of the most interesting psychological narratives of its period." French Films has a detailed review.

    As much as I love shorts, I thought this one was sad and scary. The in-your-face axe murders that start us off should have warned me about what was to come. Needless to say, this is one I won't soon forget.

    This sounds good. I need to check how long it is whether I watch it now or later. Its is so nice here I am going out to rake. Might sounds like work but it is very nice to get into the gardens. Happy Friday.

      The difference between the beginning camera work and that later in the film is interesting, I thought. Life can be hard :(
