National Tea Day
National Tea Day is celebrated each year on 4/21, which is this coming Saturday. That should give you plenty of time to plan some little observance. Perhaps just you and a friend, as in Henry Salem Hubbell's Ladies Having Tea:
or his Study for the Orange Robe:
Or perhaps you'd like some time alone, as in A Cup of Tea by Lilla Cabot Perry:
or Drinking Tea by Christian von Schneidau:
I'll be having an informal little tea myself, and in the spirit of most of the ladies I see in these paintings, I'll definitely be wearing a hat!
Please join the T party that happens every Tuesday over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog.
The picture at the top of the post is of The Tea (1890-1893) by Frederico Zandomeneghi

What a great post for T Tuesday and I'll be sure to raise a cup of tea to celebrate National Tea Day on 21st April too! Your selection of paintings is stunning, if I had to choose I like the Ladies Having Tea as tea with friends is always fun and I love the softness of the colours and composition of this painting 😀. Wishing you a very Happy T Tuesday! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings. I didn't know about National Tea day so thanks for sharing, and happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteGreat paintings. Hope you enjoy your get together on National Tea Day. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of National Tea Day, but I'll remember to drink a cup on the 21st. I was so impressed by these paintings. You picked some artists I have never heard of, and I am so pleased to learn more about each with the help of your links. Thanks for sharing these with us for T this Tuesday. What color hat will you choose?
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of National Tea Day. In my house it is Tea Day every day, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love those paintings. My favorite must be the last one, because I like the green robe and her expression. Interesting to observe how cups have 'grown¡ over the years. Now everybody uses mugs, and we have particularly huge mugs which we are calling 'buckets'. But we still use a tea pot and kettle. And of course a tea cozy to keep the pot warm (although we drink it before it goes cold).
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
The last painting is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteThank you for introducing me to National Tea Day, I will try to celebrate International tea day .I just learned that it is celebrated on December 15th.
But as I drink tea every day I celebrate the whole year ---lol!
Happy T-Day !
