Maciel's on Highland

I'd been to the Maciel's restaurant downtown, but this one is new, located closer to us in the University District.

I had the chicken fajita:

It was a pleasant day, and The Husband and I sat on the enclosed patio:

I enjoyed it. That said, it won't take the place of our favorite Mexican restaurant Las Delicias on Park Avenue.

Please share a drink with us at the T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.

  9. There is always just that ONE Mexican restaurant that is the best. For us in TX it was Mejor Que Nada ...we never did find one in CA and here in Arkansas its Abuellos.... We have second choices too but they don't come near our favorite. Happy T day Divers! Hugs! deb

  10. I want that meal. I want a cheese fajita and the rest of the meal. The beans, rice, and avocado look wonderful. Count me in the next time you visit a Mexican restaurant, please. Thanks for sharing this and your drink with us for T this Tuesday. It all looks SO good!

  11. The patio looks lovely. I'm dreaming of being outside dining al fresco. At the rate it's snowing today, eating outside won't happen until July. Happy T Day

  13. Your meal does look delicious, sadly there are no Mexican restaurants anywhere near where we live.
    Happy T day wishes.

  14. Such a high wall almost defeats the purpose of eating outside. Of course you could pretend you were in an enclosed courtyard. ;)

    1. It's definitely enclosed lol. There's a parking lot and some maintenance equipment back there. The wall is more attractive for knowing that ;)

    2. Much better view then--LOL! I hope they hang some flower pots along the wall this summer. That would really make it more inviting.

    3. Definitely! It has just opened, and that wall is new. I imagine they'll put some plants back there somewhere.

  15. My reaction to your meal was: 'Oh.' It doesn't look at all like a chicken fajita. To me chicken fajita is quick seared chicken pieces with pepper and onion in a tortilla wrap. Your plate has rice and a sauce and lots of other yummy looking things. I sometimes order chicken fajita because it's low fat and if the tortilla is made of corn meal than even better.
Lucky you that you could sit outside. Here it still is way too cold to do that.
    Happy (belated) T-Day,

    1. The chicken is under the avocado/salsa, and the tortillas are in the red tray under the plate. The rice and re-fried beans are the sides. Around here fajitas come with the filling and tortillas separate so you put them together as you eat them. This made 3 (I think) fajitas.

  16. Looks so yummy! I love tacos. I haven't been to a restaurant dedicated to just tacos but it sounds like fun. I love that you put the links to the restaurant.
    Belated Happy Tea Day,

  17. Though I live in Mexico, there are only a few traditional Mexican dishes I enjoy. I definitely don't like runny re-fried beans like I see on your plate - lol. But give me a quesadilla, a few tacos or huevos rancheros and I'm a happy camper - er - ranchero ;-)

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
