Sear Shack and Shopping
The Sear Shack is a new burger place in town, and we decided to check them out.
You order at the counter:
I had the single burger with lettuce, tomato, and pickle, a coke, and an order of fries:
We liked the food and will go back, I'm sure. You can see the menu here.
We went window shopping, which is a tradition for us so we can see the Christmas decorations, first at the local mall:
We got a kick out of this sign:
We also went to Spin Street, where it's impossible to leave without buying things. They were decked out, celebrating the season:
And, of course, a trip to the local independent bookstore:
with their seasonal book displays:
I came away with 4 books from there: 2 fiction and 2 science fiction, and I've already finished one of the fiction books. I'll write it up soon and schedule a post on it. I'm trying to increase my stock of science fiction books, so I'll have plenty on hand for winter reading. All suggestions are welcome. I prefer science fiction to fantasy, I particularly like space opera, and I don't at all care for alternative history. My plan had been to pick up the latest book in the Expanse series by James S. A. Corey, but they didn't have that one.
I hope your preparations for Christmas are filled with joy and that your days are lacking any stress. A season of peace be yours!
Please join us over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's weekly T Tuesday gathering. Share a drink with us.

Always a good thing to visit a new place to eat and have a wonderful experience. So enjoying the many festive posts around-always lifts the spirits. And, there,s nothing like having new good books to enjoy:) Merry Christmas, happy New Year, and happy T day too!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your food at the new place. The shops all look beautiful with the decorations, good that you had time to buy some good books - have fun reading them! Happy T Day, happy holidays, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteLooks liker a good day out with shops and somewhere to eat. Loved the photographs
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day
Love Chrissie xx
mighty Christmas decorations everywhere. i hope you will have a peaceful and cozy time!
ReplyDeletehappy t-day!
Its good when a new eating place is good and you would return. Those shops looked inviting and geared up to make folk spend more, but I probably wouldn't have resisted buying a book either.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day and best wishes for the festive season.
Yvonne xx
I can see that you celebrate the season well!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!

I was quite surprised. The burger place my girl friends and I went to last week had similar prices. In fact, I think their single hamburgers were exactly the same price. I say surprised, because when I think of Memphis vs Wichita, your prices are normally quite a bit more.
ReplyDeleteYour mall and shops were quite festive. You found some great places. Don't laugh, please, but for me the best space opera that has ever been made was Star Wars (all six movies). I still get all giddy when I see any of them.
Thanks for sharing your burger and coke with us for T this Tuesday. BTW, I would like one of those caramel malts, please!
I'd definitely consider Star Wars a great space opera -so no laughing from me, but I've never read the books.
DeleteLooks like a fun day out, and some good shopping. Give me a bookstore any day. :) Burger looks yummy too. Happy holidays. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYour burger looks delicious, make mine a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, sear-sauce, pickles and crispy-onions please - yum! The decorations are beautiful and I love the fact most places have a christmas tree all beautifully decked out, not something we get in all the shops here :-). Looks like you are going to have fun reading your new books over the Holiday Season, can't wait to hear your reviews :-). Wishing you a Happy T Day and may a season of peace by yours too! J :-) x
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a good burger and after checking the menu it looks like a good price too. I now want to know what in the heck Sear Sauce is though. Enjoyed seeing some of your local festive decorations. Books and Christmas just go together for me. Hope you enjoy the ones you bought.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to try the sear sauce, I guess. I haven't a clue about what kind of sauce it is lol
DeleteThe Sear Shack looks very interesting. The menu had my mouth watering. The local Christmas decorations are lovely. They're always fun to see and make me feel more festive.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day and may a season of peace be yours as well! Eileen
That hamburger looks awesome. I love burgers and am partial to the Little Bacon Cheeseburger at Five Guys. One just opened up near us. Heaven. The decorations at the mall are wonderful Everything just sparkles. That sign cracked me up, too. Have a wonderful Christmas
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to find a new burger place. We like to check out the holiday decorations too. We usually go to Old St. Charles ,MO. which is where Lewis and Clark started their trip to the west coast . It's an old French town that the old original main street is still in tack and has been turned into a shopping / arts & entertainment area. They do a Victorian type Christmas. This year we had ice and super cold weather so we stayed home by the fire.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to try out a new foody place. Personally I'm not fond of fast food and would give burgers and chips a miss, but I'm glad you enjoyed yours and plan to come back.
ReplyDeleteI certainly enjoyed looking at all the nice decorations, which we don't get much of here.
It's great that you found some good books to buy. I love book stores. Sadly I have to read my books on an e-reader, but I prefer physical books. I like to look at the cover, I like the smell of a new book etc.
I like science fiction too. The last one I read was called Dark Eden by Chris Becket about astronauts stranded on a distant planet and starting a colony. It is catagosrized as social science fiction, so it might not be your cup of tea. But I enjoyed it. It was different.
Happy T-Day and a very wonderful Christmas,
Lisca
Actually, I like the social science sub-genre. It sometimes seems to me to overlap with post-apocalyptic fiction, which I also like. I read the Wikipedia article on social science fiction and saw many books listed that I've read and enjoyed. I will definitely look for this book. As I'm googling the author (I didn't remember him), I see Dark Eden won the Arthur C. Clarke Award, so I'm doubly interested. Thx for your recommendation :)
DeleteGlad that the new place turned up trumps! I love seeing the Christmas decorations! I don't read Science Fiction more of a History gal myself but we did go to see the new Star Wars today - great film but I got a bit annoyed with the blurry 3D! Merry Christmas, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... my suggestions would tend to be in the Fantasy realm so i don't think i can help you... :( Food looks yummy! So glad you had a nice visit... Happy T day and Merry Christmas . Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun outing with yummy food and delightful decorations! Looking forward to hearing about the sci fi books you got, as hubby and I are sci fi fans too. ;) happy T day and Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas my friend! Thanks for being part of my life this year.
