Amaryllis Exhibition
The Dixon Gallery and Gardens held the amaryllis exhibition over much longer than they had originally planned, because the flowers are doing so well. Aren't they beautiful!
While I was there I went inside the Dixon Residence area to look at some of the permanent collection. I thought I'd share this with the T(ea) Tuesday gathering at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog:
It is Woman in a Cafe, by Jean-Louis Forain and was painted in about 1885. She looks like she's waiting for someone.

ReplyDeleteGolly, these are simply gorgeous. I'm so glad you had a chance to see these lovely amaryllis in bloom. They are stunning. Really enjoyed learning about the different ones, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing both the flowers, and the beautiful painting of a woman drinking (a mystery drink) in a cafe this Tuesday. The painting is lovely and from a period of art I truly admire and adore. Sorry I haven't been around much this week. Seems I'm all consumed with that altered book I'm making for Kathy.
What a beautiful exhibit!!!! Love the painting also :)
ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous!! Color galore!
ReplyDeleteLove the painting. Makes me kind of wish ladies wore hats again and swishy skirts. Naw--maybe better to just look at. ;)
Happy T-Day! :)
What a delight to see all those blooming flowers! I wonder who she is waiting for?
ReplyDeletewhat a treat to see those gorgeous colors and blooms along with the sunshine! Such a treat. Lovely painting-does make you think of what the story might be behind it. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an amaryllis planted outdoors, where we live they are typical Christmas flowers, a very fine hostess-gift, indeed. These are wonderful, so many!
ReplyDeleteAmaryllis are sold as Christmas gifts here, too, and special vases are sold to grow them, like narcissus bulbs. They are striking blooms.
DeleteLovely plant show. Gorgeous color.
